Hi I am an FMG from India with score of 95/84. I have done ENT reisdency in India with 3 months ENT rotation in USA. I applied for 68 IM programs only, in last 2 weeks of september and first week of octtober with 3 US letter of recommendation ( Non specific about residency ) and one Indian letter. No calls yet with five rejections. Can some one tell me that whats happening to my application? Is it my ENT background which is hurting me. Up to what time should I expect to get some calls or I have already lost the battle? Kindly help

Thanks for replying I graduated in 2003, Finished my residency in 2006 , cleared all steps in first attempt. Yes i do need a visa H1/J1. I have three strong US letters of recommendation with a publication in US . I also worked in three research projects in US and took a grand round. I appled for about about 30 University program from 10sept to 15 sept and 38 communtiy programs (universtiy affliated) from 20sept till 7 oct. Is that too late for applications? Please tell do I have any chance to get the calls.

Some people have advised me to give a call to the programs and tell them about my interest but is it considered okay or appropriate to do so ?

I think u'll get lots of calls. most uni programs call after nov 1 when they can have the mspe while most good programs start after oct 15. insecure programs send calls the earliest. i have rcvd calls and most of them are uni affiliated. since majority of ur applications is for uni programs i'd say keep ur fingers crossed and wait. hopefully u'll land a good uni prog. the only thing that goes against is the inconsistency in scores for uni programs which have stronger emphasis on ck scores than comm.hope this helps.

Yes my PS do mention by intention and reason to change the speciality. Infact one of the LOR from Chief of Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery Div. also says that I'm interested in Internal Medicine. So hopefully this is going to help. I did called some of the comm. programs and they told me that my application is still due for review as they recevied it very late. So far I,ve got rejection from: UIC preoria, st luke's PA, Drexel, Jacobi NY, University of Connceticut- Farmington.
