hyyong hyoong , 60 years old asian was diagnosed with prostate cancer. you are on the way to OP . his grandson , along with his daughter greet you infront of his room and urgesyou, doc,if it is cancer , please dont tell him...........what is your MOST APPROPRIATE RESPONSE , AT THIS POINT OF TIME?
a.look, in this county a pateint must be told EVERYTHING
B. do you ask me to lie to my patient?
c. i must ask you not to intervene in my duty
d.tell me , why do you want me to not to tell?
e. look, i know what is best for the patient, and i will do that.....
f.sorry, i would like to entertain your wish,but...........

d is the correct answer. you should know more before deciding on whether or not you have to inform the diagnosis at this point of time. in doctor-patient relationship, it is needed that you inform him everything, even if does not asks it. dont force a patient to listen to the badnews rightaway, as it sometimes hurts the patient's interests! so, "tell me , why you dont want......." is the correct answer.
