I'M FINALLLLLLYYYY HERE... POSTING THIS!!!! yahooooooooooo... its been a loooong wait 4 d result docs. trust me it is.. n i gonna share my mistakes wid al surely.. things which no one here cud tel me abt..
well.... i'm a med student in 3rd yr.. indian... i'm givin a detailed account of my prep.. cos wen a started out i was on dire need of sm1 who'd done it lik i was doin.. for guidance n help... i got both frm dis site.. thank u al.. n i'd lik to give my due here..
d post is divided in 4 parts.. 1).my prep in coll.2)d final 2 mnths 3)d xam.4)my result.. n why it took 3 months to come.. dis thing none here told me.. so i dont knw hw many had to do dis formality!!
========================MY PREP===================
Wel... preparing wid coll is tough.. wat u need is. 1)a strict time plan 2)excellent wil power 3)self motivation.. 4)u shud b very focused thru out... am sayin al dis.. cos one has to study for d hosp rounds also.. dat yr course also.. den d mle stuff... wel.. being an international student.. i thought joinig kaplan's course is d best for me.. e sp wen it was in my city.. jus 9 kms frm d coll.. i had my appoinments thee.. so i HAD to go.. so my usmle stuff continued.. my course material... wel.. i'd already read al d books once before i started d kaplan course.. den wenever d tests wrere annonced.. i needed a couple of tests to read.. n wel.. decently pass dem al....ALSO.. u need to priortize al ur works.. mle vs coll vs hosp rounds vs frens vs family vs time 4 self... PRIORITY... DATS D KEY WORD DURING D COLL DAYS... nw.. pl lets get one thing clear.. i started my kaplan course in apr 05.. finished al 7 subj by early oct 05.. cos i had my univ exams in feb.. so needed to really concentrate there also.. i tok d rest of oct as off.. started my univ prep in nov.. my xams finished in march(mid).. so...wel... my real final prep for USMLE STARTED IN APR.. in d past one yr.. i had al kaplan books min 3 times.. jus reading.. n making notes wherever i needed.. surfed d net.. down listed d sites ii found worth goin to in final mnths.. readin al other mle books othr dan kaplan n got dem xeroxed if i found woth it... n wel.. i WAS also reading my course books... namelt.. papa robbins,katzung n lewitz micro...
==========================THE FINAL MONTHS===================
my due date was 6th july.. so i had 4 mnths frm apr.. so i decided dat 3 mnths plus d last one... i pickd up my speed in apr.. it was full blast in may... by may i was doin almost 12-14 hrs a day.. bt mind u.. i had amny breaks in dfinal mnths.. i fel ill in apr n in may got suspected for typhoid. so much so good... so wel i was dwn by 14 days in d d two mnths.. so... it did quite bad to my confidence..SO..PL.. TAKE EXCELLENT CARE OF UR HEALTH IN FINAL 3MNTHS.... nw... my expected 12-14 hr routine started on 10th may... i had taken d kaplan q bank in apr.. did lil by lil as i felt.. i finished 50% of it by mid june... my comments on it 'l cm last pl.. d 3 mnths +1 mnth!!!
wel. i'l break it dwn for al... i did first 1 n haif mnth for studying d subjects separately... as subjects.. den d sec one half mnth i did system wise.. i cud've done dat before also.. bt to do system wise i gues u need to 've very good understandin so u can c d connections.. bt frm den on.. al my revisions were systm wise... to reinforce d concepts os dats d way qs r askd... last mnth june!!! i gave nbme 2 3 weeks before... good score.. en nbme 4 one week before.. bad score.. it was very very tough trust me... blew out my air n al... i was very sad.. nt depressed('m nt dat tyoe actually) so wel.. D FINAL one week.. i read wat i felt lik.. my weak points.. diags.. photos.. xrays.. cool easy stuff.. i also had finished d rest 50% of q bank in june... i startded 1st aid '05 in d last mnth only.. its good.. too good in sm subj.. bt wel.. i'd prefer only 4 concise review.. nt d main study tool..
LAST DAY BEFORE XAM.. i left studyin d afternoon... went for a walk in eve... came back.. had dinner.. slept off at normal time... i had changed my routine in d last mnth acc to wat i wanted it to b on d night before... SLEPT FOR 7 HRS!!! n soundly.. got up at 5 in d morn.. cos i had to b at prometric at 8.. it was lil far.. so.. i had light breakfast at 7.. strong coffee at 7:45 before leavin home... so i cud go to d loo before i enterd d hall...

Well... i got it yesterday on 10th oct.. almost 3 mnths after my xam.. wel... i'l tel u wat happened.. i don't knw if its also d procedure wid gradutaes. wel.. in may d ecfmg had sent a letter to d dean askin dem to re verify my stsatus as a current student of d coll.. i didn't knw this.. wel..it was kept i d coll office.. cos they needed my applicatin to wd it to d dean.. my yrslt was ready on 26th july.. they den sent me a letter(on 26/7.. reachdme 9/8) tellin al d above.. dat d reply frm d coll was nt receivd.. wel... i ran to d office.. got it signed n postd it on 12/8.. i did a mistak here.. sent it by gov postal courier... scfmg had by den already postd aletter to both me n coll on 14/8.. i den rang dem up n askd wat was i expedtd to do... wel. they said dat they wanted d sec letter signd sent.. cos its already been sent.. phew!!!!!!!!!! wel.. i askd sm forum seniors... folld there advice.. got d sec letter signd n postd by aprivate couier... on 12/9. it reachd dem on 16.9.. my rasult was releasd on 22/9...... i got it n mail on 10/10....wel... al's wel.. dat.. god knows wat!!!!!!!!!!

resources: kaplan nots n tapes (xcpt path) goljan path n tapes(awesome), brs beh sci, al UCVs.. FA.. q bank, goljan path phots(they were infact d SAME ones in xam)... i gues dats it... ommuno.. if u want.. jawtz is gud..
xam score sheet: my beh sci was al time low.. i lik d sub.. bt scoring is lil diff as v don't know their set up i gues. lame excuse.. i scored highest n gentics(!!!) hemato n lymphatics!!!! well..watever.. i came out of d hall confident dat i had broken it.. i ws pretty sure of clearing it.. delay in score has taken al d excitement out... frankly..i'd advice al of u to keep in touch wid d coll abt dat letter..
i'd also lik to thank many forum seniors here.. it has been really nice to nw dat docs.. young n old.. sirs n ma'ams.. cm together here to help... a coll lik environ.. den my frens.. for helpin me out at d coll front.. 4 understandin dat i had diff priority den..my parents...they were my life support this whole yr... n GOD!!! 4 d faith.. confidence.. n d stroke of luck jus at d time wen ever i needed it.. thank u god!!! u r awesome... d best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

about the scores delay, actually I know somebody who has the same problem, took the step in july and still didn't get the results although there were no problems with the application...horrible...so this is the procedure with all students? what's the deal? should we all expect delayed scores?!

dr dolittle.. wel.. subject distribution wise... d main bulk was path.. almost 60%.. very simple pharm. physio was weird as i'd said in my xam xperince.. many exercise physio qs..
frm FA.. d best is pharm.. no doubt.. den physio.. den micro..biochem is good too.. for these u may rely only on dis book.. rest.. u'l need d main books.. i hope dis helps sir..

dear klimt.. i understand wat ur fren must b goin thru.. its HARROWING.. u loose interest in life!!! seriously.. i really can't help u wid ur doubt.. as in my coll.. i'm d first STUDENT writing d xam in coll... al write after grad.. so.. i don't knw if it happens wid al students.. i can but advice dis.. ring dem up if u r american.. or fax/mail dem up if u r international.. ask dem if dis happens wid al.. i jus hp dis helps u. n ur fren gets d score soon.. god speed!!!
