You can buy the Kaplan notes from ebay and others from Amazon.com. For NBME, you can purchase from NBME.com. Trust me if you stick to the books I told you, you'll be fine. You can study 4-5 hrs/day but remember it'll take you sometime b4 you complete the material 2-3 times as recommended. My advice: 2-3 months b4 the exam, read 8-10hrs/day
Good luck and read the post of a 25 year gradute who passed the exam, perhaps this will tell you that this exam doable though it requires hard work. Remember: USMLE doesn't determine smartness, it determines how well you are prepared and the only way you be well prepared is to read more and of course digest the material.

I'm new here and thinking about taking step 1. I've been in US for 5 years and English is not even close to my mother language. It could be a problem but I'm going to try anyway. I'm seeing lots of great spirits and inspiration on this forum. Thank you all.
I'm wondering where to buy kaplan lecture notes and other review books recommended. I read pretty slow so I don't want unnecessary books pile up on my table. Can people who scored high make a list of the books that you actually used and memorised?
Your effort is greatly appreciated!

1. Biochem =Kaplan
2. Microbio = Kaplan
3. Behav =kaplan
4. Physio =Kaplan
5. Pharm = Kaplan
7. Path = Rapid Review by Dr. Goljan who's considered a Guru of Pathology
8. First Aid

Since the Ps (path, pharm and Physio) are very important for the board I'll be reading two extra books for Pharm and Physio to get a good foundation before I read kaplan pharm and physio.
These two books are: 1. Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews Pharm by Howland and Mycek. 2. Physiology 3rd edition by Linda S. Costanzo

For practice Questions: There are so many out there so don't waste your money and time just stick to the following:
1. Kaplan online Qbank which you have to purchase
2. Kaplan Qbook that usually comes with the other books as a set
3. NBME forms 1/2/3/4/
My advice to you are as follows:
1. read Kaplan books 2 times
2. Read Pharm 3 times (2 times from Kaplan and 1 time from Lippin)
3. Read Path 3 times from Rapid Review Gojan
4. Read Physio 3 times (2 times from Kaplan and 1 time from Costanzo)
5. Read First Aid 4 times==> this is the most important of all the books so read it well

5. Biochem
6. Beh
7. Anatomy

Hi, u made a good decision, still i have not taken any steps, in dec i am taking my first step. materials i am using are kaplan for all subject, except for patho i use BRS and goljan audio.in addition to that, first aid. finally kaplan q bank and nbme test. kaplan lecture notes u can get it from ebay, i think 300$ (not sure). kaplan lecture notes is a set of 7 books.before staring your study fix your dead line for the exam. u can do it, all the forum members are with u. i wish u good luck.

Thanks so much for your lists and advises AllahuAkbar!! Can I get all the books you mentioned from ebay ? kaplan and NBME? I heard that for kaplan notes, it comes with a $800 online test expires within 30 days. So you have to buy it a month or two before the test. so that means i will have 2 sets of notes?(one i buy on ebay)
