Clubbing of fingers occurs in
A. TB
B. emphysema
C. CHF giving rise to cyanosis
D. polycystic liver
E. recurrent pyogenic cholangitis

i think that chf with cyanosis is the right answer because you need chronic cyanosis for clubbing.in emphysema we have cyanosis only in exacerbations and usually they are not cyanotic but pink puffers.

oo..before i thought it should be D or E because my lecturer said only cyanotic congenital heart disease will give rise to finger clubbing

B. emphysema in 75- 80% of patient has clubbing.

exact cause of clubbing is not known but prerequisite are peripheral vasodilatation, and AV anastomosis due to proposed sunbstance PG, ferritin, adenosine etc proliferation and edema of the subcutaneous tissue between skin and nail bed result in loss of normal angle and increased sponginess of the nail base causing clubbing
