For definition of pre-eclampsia, HT and proteinuria develops after 20 weeks of gestation, this is defined as pre-eclampsia also, HT with symptoms (e.g. headache, visual disturbance) / abnormal liver / thrombocytopenia / hyperuricemia / IUGR, this is also defined as pre-eclampsia, so for this definition, does these symptoms need to develop after 20 weeks of gestation or as long as they develop as the start of pregnancy?? thx

if these symptoms develop prior to 20 weeks, diagnosis of molar pregnancy or choriocarcinoma shud be considered!

chronic HTN of pregnancy is the HTN that is not pregnancy induced,or which occurs before 20 weeks. If it is associated with protienuria before 20 weeks ,then it is called chronic HTN with super imposed pre eclampsia.
