the loss of sensation over the lateral half of the palm is a distractor as its not completely true, the clincial vignette is of a cluster of symptoms of median nerve cmpression in the carpal tunnel the palmar cutaneous branch of median nerve escapes the compression as it lies above the carpal tunnel... and hence only C .

i said this from memory. so errors might be there.. refer a bok.
