Today I decided to take advantage of ongoing sale at Macy's and buy the suit fo interviews (which I yet didn't get yet, not even a single one).
I, Miss Cool, Ice Queen, always resesrved and relaxed-I ended up crying in the fitting room.
What if I don't match this year? Tremendous amount of nerves, efforts and finances is put in my quest for residency! What if I'm not called for interview? I'm even buying the clothes already!
Needless to say, I didn't buy anything. Fitting room attendant never noticed anything unusual, nobody heard me, and my husband has no clue...He just thinks that I'm in dysphoric mood today coz I didn't find anything I liked in the store.
I hope tomorrow will be a better day.

sorry about your nerves. I understand very much you must feel.

Please have hope that every thing will work out its way. Next year this time, you will be too busy to even check your email ;-)

Hey Rasul

Sorry friend ..I had thought you were a guy ..sorry for thinking that but all your posts reflected a something resolute about them ..Its pretty clear that you are one very strong person .So I am pretty sure that moments of weakness with you are far and between ...One moment of weakness cant deter you just like that .Cheer up pretty girl ..I owe you a Heikinen so you gotta stay smiling if you want to grab that beer coz the pub we are going to go ito let in only those who keep smiling .Listen to some wild music and throw your body around ..You will loose the nervous energy this way .

BTW-this cross you are seeing just above is a smiling man winking behind his goggles.

Rasul why not buying a nice dress or suit for interviews if they are on sale ..... besides you need to be positive and think you will use it .........for the interviewssticking out tongue

Rasul,

Believe and hope, the best is yet to come.

Thanks, guys, for support.Yes, I'm a chick, and sometimes it shows (just like today at Macy's).
My husband is a very nice guy, except he has nothing to do with medicine, and it reflects on the way of his thinking, of course. Besides, I always took care of my problems by myself. Not only I'm the king of the hill an general, but also the pillar, the axis of my family before marriage( meaning, for my Mom, sister, unts, uncles, cousins, and even my father sometimes)
I really, really hope that I'll get my residency this year, not only for myself, but for them- they all are looking up to me, and my failure will dishearten them terribly.
I'm also hoping that I'll be able to replace that huge gap in my budget that Match 2007 recently created.
I thank You very much, I Love You all. I love this forum.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL YOU, and me- just a little bit.
Truly Yours,
Rasul

last year i was ready to get a house, so.. i forgot about my 2 suits purchased.

If u dont match this y (God forbid) make sure to keep your shape, the suit will be valuable next year.

every1s anxious. and its nothin to be ashamed of. it just proves that we realise what an imp phase of life we are in, without setting off panic. i almost cry on hearing "turn the page" when joggin in the morning on seeing west manhatten across central park across the kennedy reservoir.. and lately its been happening a lot. courage is not the absence of fear. its the mastery of fear. glsmiling face

Rasul,

Girl you can do this. We all can do this. Just you get that suit and the interviews will follow! How's that? Cheer up girl....better days are coming.

  #15

Hi Rasul,
cheer up girl! its really difficult to believe and look forward to a residency in march, at this point, and i am sure everybody feels it.....it doesnt matter how many interviews one gets called for.Its just that phase when you have to make yourself believe (somehow!) that its going to happen (dont know how ) and walk on.....it really can be very stressful....but then there are these wondrful forums and these super wonderful people we meet here who make it a little easier and enjoyable! and then theres SHOPPING anyway smiling face ....so keep the faith!
I sincerely hope we all get matched this march....if not , god will have better plans!

  #16

Its true that anxiety and fear can get the better of anyone .But why let it do so .Is this match and residency so big an affair that we should loose our sleep and let it kill us slowly. What will happen if I dont match .I will loose my money ,my efforts will go in vain and I will loose precisous time .Will my folks get disappointed .Will I ever be able to do what I want to do .The questions can be overpowering enough to cause retardation and cripple us to the extent that we become good for nothing .

But then what is the solution .How to find answers. Well I would say dont find answers .Let the question pile rise .Dont look at it and when you look at it ,laugh at how silly it is .Thank GOd that we dont have any bodily pain .Thank God that we are not in prison .Thank God that we are sane .Thank God that we have some qualification on which we can bank for our entire life .There is nothing in this world which once lost cant be regained .

I consider myself a poor man (which I am ) who has risen from the rags to be able to fight .I think that there is nothing to loose and everything to gain .If I fail in everything what will I do -I will become a boxer and earn more than what doctors earn .If I dont become a boxer -I will become a rabble rouser and bring a revolution .I will make history so complex for the posterity that only the most elite will dare to read it .
Have faith in your abilities and stop caring about each and everything .Learn to live each day happily .There are thousand things everyday which if you look at from a certain angle will seem hillarious.Find that angle ..

yep......but i would say dont look for angles too....its when you arent looking that they turn up and its far more enjoyable to discover....accidently?!

  #18

speaking of elite (sorry rasul, for digressing), did you notice laptop that I am among 'the elite' now? I dont have to feel 'senior' anymoe :-))))

But alas, now you are a 'guru', mind it, not a 'guruchu'. I give up, I just cant keep up with you ;-)

Again, Thank You, guys, for support! I got some sleep last night, and this morning all problems and worries somehow seem to be smaller.
Spoke to my husband last night. He understands everything, but not very good with expressing his concerns or giving counceling.
This morning I'm a tough lady again! I'm 30 and I'm smart-I'll make it!
With Love,
Rasul

Know Ur Value....!

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a Rupee 500 note.
In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this Rupee 500 note?"
Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this note to one of you
but first let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the note up.
He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air.
"Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and
started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all
crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?"
Still the hands went into the air.
"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson.
No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth Rupee 500/-.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt
by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as
though we are worthless.
But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose
your value.

You are special. Don't ever forget it! Never let yesterday's disappointments overshadow tomorrow's dreams.
"VALUE HAS A VALUE ONLY IF ITS VALUE IS VALUED"
"Make some corner of the world distinctively yours"

GL..
