Hi,
As most of U know and commented my creds were good for this MATCH but unfortunately did not turn out to be so.
So far I have only 4 ivs from average programs and 8 rejections from good programs.Others have not responded.
I fear that Game is Over for this MATCH , is it so or is there still a chance of getting a good residency position?

Harry U really need a break...It is still too early to get this anxious. The road ahead is really very long and needs a lot of patience.If u haven't done it yet go thru last years's match and u'll know it is not that late this season. Be a lil realistic in ur goals...4 avg intvws is not a bad situ to be in this early. Forums can be stressful...u gotta take only the good things from here.Believe me I'm an old grad and I have my share of demons haunting me and so does everyone else. As Abraham said shut ur comp. and enjoy this stress free time till it lasts ie till Mon

If the game is over, I am totally screwed.
I would like to think that I'm not. At least not yet. It's been just over a month since they've gotten all of our stuff, and people are actually still applying. So, let's not get too panicked just quite yet. I'm trying my damnedest not to, and I hope my ... fellow L.I. comrade (??) ... is just having a temporary lapse of strength.
A propos strength: It is hard, but you can do it, Harry. Just be proud of your application, be proud of your accomplishments, and above all, be proud of YOU. It's difficult in this time of stress (you have 4 more interviews as I), however, the game is, in my opinion, in it's prime at the moment.
And those PDs are probably worrying about their jobs themselves.
Keep your head up, and if you need a pep-talk, that's what these places are for.
Good luck, although you are doing a lot better than some of us.

Hi Harry99, I know you must be stressing out as you have expected to get a lot of interviews. But i guess you also have to realize that some programs look at different applications differently. You are lucky as some people have no interviews yet. You may have a 99/99 but you must ask yourself the following questions:
1. When did you graduate?
2. How long did you study for each step?
3. How far apart did you take your steps?
4. What have you been doing in the interim (from grad until now)
Believe me, these things matter in your application. Bottomline, your scores are not everything. A PD may value somebody who has scores in the high 80s/low 90s and has been supporting a family and working full time. It's all different, and everybody's experience will be different. I am not being hard on you my friend, I just want you to realize that you are stressing out and that you have totally forgotten that you have 4 interviews. FOUR INTERVIEWS!!!!!!!!! Shouldn't you be partying right now? I think you should. Shake that money maker!

I graduated in 2005 May, have been working in a private hospital since then which left me with limited time to study and hence gap between my two steps was 11 months.I dont know how badly will that affect me.
Have already suffered by being unable to compete for last years MATCH.But I did not have any other option as I needed the money to pay for many things.

i ustand ur anxiety. but 1 thing i believe in is that true strength comes from within. in times of stress dont look to others for comfort. find solace and self belief from ur own subconsiousness. gl..

Dear Harry99,
After having learned that you are a fresh grad (like me!), I feel your pain more. I guess the only matter now is the 11 month gap between steps. I do like apurva's signature line. And he couldn't be more right, search for solace from within.
On another note, where are you currently? Maybe we are close to each other and maybe we could grab coffee and just chill and bum out about things in general. Heeheehee....keep in touch bro.

What r ur scores and gap between steps. Many have told me it does not matter unless gap is quite large. Anyway I was working for 10 hrs a day and had only 2-3 hours to study for USMLE.
Right now I am in my home country, where r U?
