Inulin and radioactive albumin can be used as markers for interstitial fluid volume as per BRS

Im sticking with my guns-There is no direct marker for interstitial fluid You can subtract from other spaces and use other markers for other spaces (which I displayed above) but there is no direct marker,if I said there was Id be giving out false info!! :|

The formula should be ECF -VAS =ISF VAS is 1/3 and ISF is 2/3 of ECF Since that happen I must say ICF and ISF are the only one you cant measure directly and they both have to do with the fraction 2/3

yes mjl its true that there is no direct marker but in one MCQ(page no. 196 ,mcq no. 14) in BRS physiology states that u can measure it indirectly by combining inulin and radioactive albumin(since one measures ECF and the other is for plasma volume) I hope this helps

The interstitial fluid volume cannot be measured directly because it occupies the spaces between the cells and is part of the extracellular fluid volume along with the plasma volume. Interstitial fluid volume is calculated by subtracting the plasma volume from the extracellular fluid volume. Extracellular fluid volume was estimated in the subject using inulin as the indicator.

yes mahender i agree that there is no direct markers for interstitial fluid Iam not doing this ::argue:: , I guess we all are in learning stage and neither we would give any false info nor we would like to impose or add something with our own knowledge Rather i am telling you guys to look into the BRS renal system MCQ's which mentions that you can measure it indirectly by measuring ECF and Plasma volume by their respective markers( inulin, radioactive albumin)
