i read that
squatting
--> increases systemic vascular resistance
--> increases systemic BP
--> decreases right to left shunt
--> decreases cyanosis

how does increase in systemic blood pressure leads to decrease in right to left shunt?

thx

Just reasoning here... won't increase in systemic pressure also increase pressure inside LV through augmented afterload? That should decrease right to left shunt.

a rt to left shunt happens whenthere is

a) a pathway allowing mixing of blood from rt to left

b) a pressure gradient with rt sided pressures> lt..the larger this is, the greater the shunt.

squatting wud increase the lt sided pressure and decrease the gradient for the shunt.
