Dont take me too seriously here, just read these and contribute if you care...

Reasons why Rejections Hurt:

1. You are probably a local champion somewhere....high school, college...med school...or just the light of your family
Retort: Get over it. The match process is a leveller.Every other applicant is a star from somewhere, one way or the other

2. Your PS was exceptionally written, you even paid an editor, you recall the highlight of your PS,that part where you blew your trumpet to high heavens
Retort: The PD didnt read your personal statement, Listen, the score filter sorted you out!!!!

3. They told you scores dont matter
-they lied.

4.You have spent time and money and you have done an observership, you have highlighted this in your application. You quit your interim job for this.
Retort:1 year Hands-on was required!!!

5.You get the damned thing 1st thing in the morning.
Retort: I agree this hurts more, but you see, the PD was denied sex by his wife the night before...

6.The Rejection letter wasnt nice
- It wasnt meant to be .Its a Rejection!!!

7.You met all their requirement. what do they want????
This is the major reason for a common forum question "what is your credential"
- The man used his Gut feelings. And You did look awful in that picture.

8. You have spent nearly 10,000 dollars in exams, travel and applications.
-you see, they original idea of ERAS was for you to apply to 10 programs in 1 specialty. 60 bucks.Done.(10 rejections, out!!!)

9. All your friends/family are asking you "How many interviews do you have so far?"
-Tell them to shut up.You WILL call them

10. There was no explanation for your rejection;
- i will tell you right here. You are not an AMG

11. It might trigger your depression
-thats why there are fora like this

I've seen about 800 so far this year that meet all the requirements. Still can't interview everyone.

We IMG's are the ones that want to be in their territory. It is a logical thing that AMG´s will always have preference because they are in their territory. Think of it if they were the ones that want to go to your country for residency, wouldn't you give priority to your own people first? It is sad but true. Just wait and hang in there, my friends; there may be a light at the end of the dark tunnel.

Always have hope and faith...

I'll never become a PD.... They seem never to have sex when they look at my application.

Ain't that the truth... "So, what are you doing lately?" I've finally told them that I'm a loser and can't get a job. When I do, I'll send out "re-birth" announcements.

Here's one:
You take some time to call and ask for application deadline; but when you send your application before deadline, you get and e-mail saying that they already have too many applications. shaking head

So why don't they tell you not to send anymore applications when you called them?

Silenced Md:Yea i agree with that, some will be vague about visa issues and then when you aplly they tell you they dont sponsor; etc
i think these programs take some pride in having Thousands of applications for their few positions, so they encourage application from candidates by all means so that everyone will think they are great because they got so so and so number of applicamts
