hi, just got my scores last week and i was really surprised! got 232/94, which i did not exspect, and i am wondering if it might be a mistake since the actual score does not seem high enough to me to reach a two digit score like that..however,i passed!!! i studied with first aid and did the nms questions and mock exam. i just graduated two months before that (i'm an img)so i was prepared and just added some time after i moved to the usa to do more questions as my graduation exam was an oral test. the nms q's were harder and the mock exam easier than the actual q's. i guess without my former preparation i would have studied for around three months. i cant really recall the q's but i know that i found it REALLY exhausting and that i wished i would have timed myself at home, but i never really did, so i ran out of time in my first block and never reviewed any questions. i am preparing for step 1 now ( :? ) and i always have the timer on when i do questions.it really helps getting used to the time pressure! the real q's are longer than the practice ones and they give you a lot of unnecessary infos so it really helped me to read the question first and then go through everything. the topics were very close to what was in the first aid 2004 edition and i really recommend it eventhough i know its not as popular as first aid for step 1. now, do you think a score like that is good enough to get into more competitive fields like med-peds, especially since i am an img? i hope this was a little help for your preparations, wish i could remeber the q's better, but my brain just shut off after the exam and went into a state of selective amnesia (guess the wine on that evening didnt help...sorry  ) good luck to everybody!!!

hi, thanks for all the congratulations! i studied with my german books so unfortunately i can't tell you what english books to use, sorry :? . the subjects i was tested in for my graduation were medicine, surgery, peds and ob/gyn, so i was well prepared in those subjects already and i just studied the other subjects from first aid. the nms and mock questions were a good practice and if i would have had more time i would have done the kaplan q-bank as well . i wish you good luck for step 2 and after that we can exchange our experiences for step 1!for me i have to say it was a good decision to do step 2 first, doing questions for step 1 now i can tell there is a lot of overlap (except for anatomy and biochemistry) and it makes studying a little easier. good luck again and sorry i couldnt give you more advice for the books!

 This is so funny. Docgerm is continiously insisting that he has no clue about the English books and all of us keep asking questions regarding the English USMLE books he might have used, regardless of understanding what he is saying....I feel sorry for docgerm..
