I think its needed if you are 2 years plus outta med school/clinical practise..and there are websites which offer cme credits...check out the Illinois board websites, they are gonna be more accurate than me..simply google "Illinois medical license CME"..something like that..

hi hookorcrook,
i was wondering if someone takes the step 3 exam suppose for the state license of connecticut & then ends up getting a residency in illinois, does he still have to get the state license of illinois & just for that purpose work for CME credits etc.
i mean i thought that once you're licensed at a state(post step 3)you are free to pursue residency anywhere in US. Right ?
for someone like me who has been out of med school/clinical practise for more than two years & keen to pursue residency in illinois on h1(God Willing !), this surely is a confusing situation !!
will appreciate yours or anyone else's comment please. thanks.
