Dopamine, a naturally occuring catecholamine, and the synthetic dobutamine. Dopamine is well suited for shock cuz it dilates renal and mesentric arteries, allowing maintainence of urine output. Dobutamine increases cardiac outpit via direct actions on cardiac tissues. Unlike dopamine, it is beta 2 agonist properties offset alpha 1 effects. This causes a high cardiac output without direct effects on systemic vascular resistance.

and dobutamine doesnot cause any change in GFR or RBF.It can be used in acute CHF but tachyphylaxsis is common.
