Hello all, My wife and a close friend took USMLEs last year and they told me that with respect to Anatomy, all I need is FA and the Kaplan qBank material. Both of them scored very well in Step1. However, while doing qBank, I felt that the questions in anatomy go into considerable details .... like insertions and origins of even not so common muscles ... and ... minor details about nerves. Those of you who have taken the exam recently .... can you please share your opinions about anatomy questions and what is the best material to prepare for it? Thanks a lot in advance.

hello when i took my step 1 i found that only neuro anatomy was heavily tested with lots of CT and MRIs....but gross wasnt there in detail...only nerves of upper limb ,their leisons specially median nerve palsy....and brachial plexsis injuries.....i think first aid and kaplan anatomy is enough but yes q bank is in detial about anatomy ...i agree on this...but then everyone has his own experience....lets see what others have to say........ good luck

hi guys, what I think, do every thing you can, i mean, do kaplan book, q book and q bank, and FA for gross anatomy. Do all xrays, CT's for anatomy, and yes Neuroanatomy is Heavily tested in exam.

in my exam I got in my gross anatomy, was Brachial Plexus "radial nerve" injury, lower limb xay of talus fracture, and shoulder xray, in neuro, it was ct head showing both lateral ventricles enlarged and asking about the cause of it, one q about brown sequard syndrom, and one showing the Anterior Cerebral Artery, which is their in kalpan book, and asking about the consequences after it got injured, one q about Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis, and many more.

The anatomy questions that i know i got wrong on my test were really nit-picky. Stuff that even Kaplan can't save you! But for the majority, the Anatomy was for straight forward stuff, and mostly basic stuff like sensory to palm, brachial plexus, herniated disc, sensory to feet, dermatomes... So even though i've never opened Kaplan, at the very least do FA, and flip through HY Anatomy and read the clinical parts. But time permitting definitely do all the sources you can (like Shakeels suggested)!!!!!!! G'luck!
