thank you focusmle....since u mentioned about god, i felt like speaking my concept about god though this topic is not relevant in this forum.
God according to me is the universal energy. that is the sum total of all the energies in this universe. we know that even an atom has an energy of its own. if u add up all these energies, we get the universal energy of which we all are a part of.
i have read the bible, bhagavatham and the bhagavath geetha. of these bhagavath geetha is the one which inspired me the most. now dont think that im talking religion here. religion is a crap which man created for his own convenience. but its the essence of it that inspired me. it is a must read book for all human beings. the teachings have immense meaning within. dont just take the literal meaning of the lines. think about what is said. its the best book ever written in the history of mankind. i think anyone who reads it and understands it fully is defenitly going to taste success in professional and personal life.
after reading it, the idea of GOD=UNIVERSAL ENERGY dawned on me. some of the things mentioned really made me think. for example,
its said that god has no form, no color, no smell, u cant touch and feel etc....but what is it in this universe that has all these characteristics? its energy!
its mentioned that god is every where, every thing in this universe is within him but he is not within any. what does that mean..consider the ocean. it contains many living and nonliving things. but the ocean is not contained within a fish or a shell. like wise, the universal energy contains all the energies but theres no object or living thing which contains the universal energy.
energy is neither created nor destroyed ,its transformed from one form to another. we all know this fact. we get our energy from food which is an external source. like wise, its possible to tap energy from the cosmic energy and increase our potentials because our mind is an open system which can easily communicate with the higher level
god can bless u or punish u only with ur permission to some extend. if ur thoughts and deeds are good, u automatically attract positive energy from the universe. the opposite is also true. when u have positive energy with in , u feel happy, u end up with good results. in short, ur best friend and ur worst enemy is UR MIND. its for u to choose.
how i wish there was no religion in this world..there is a difference between being religious and being pious.
friends, theres no point in learning about the human body without realizing our true selves. just think about who we are, why are we sent here..what is our true purpose......
lets all try to make a difference while we are here..every day..big or small...together lets try to make this world a better place.

Dear Sandra,Although as you said this is not the place for it I cudnt resist jotting a few words in your response .I respect your views ,and appreciate your desire to boost up the morale of the test takers,but ,by negating religion for all it stands for ,would not work for many people,there are so many out there who look up to someone (up there),for help in their distress,find peace in remembrence,console themselves of the inevitable disease--death--from the point of religion,accept the ups and downs of life as predetermined by that Being(otherwise we could have achieved everyrhing we wanted)and learn to live by it.In fact religion does help to bridge the vaccuum between mind and soul, life and death.concrete and abstract......it defines the boundaries of humanity ,morality,piety,which otherwise would have no meaning
Seeing your taste for this i would suggest you read the lives of (all) great men/women both thiest and athiest (when you are done with mle ,ofcourse) ,you would see what i mean.
Yes I agree with you that we should find the real purpose of this life we r given(not just to crack mle,ofcourse),there is much more to it,something I am myself working on to find out......

dear mediocre,
i am glad to see some response. but i think u missed my point.
u know, having faith in god is not the same as being religious. i am a strong believer myself. my belief in the supreme power is the very basis of my existence today.
religion doesnt clearly define god. all we have left with is a no. of religious stories, principles, rules and rituals. these were all created by man. god didnot create religion. religion is something which evolved over thousands of years and many things which religion says(stories attached to their respective gods) are bogus. how many of us are 100% sure that all these stories are true?
the purpose of my writing was to point out that its high time for us to come out of the bounds of religion....the christians say christ is god, muslims allah, and hindus have many.... isnt this pathetic? i mean how could there so many gods...
all i say is that we should realize that god is one..that is the universal energy...people call god by different names for their convinience because it might be hard for them perceive god as energy for religion has inculcated in them a name and form of god.

does any religion clearly define god and soul?
none of the religious scriptures does..
all of them have personified god..
of all these religious writings i found bhagavath geetha was the most inspiring and has given many clues as to what god is...this is only my personal opinion. i am not trying to impose this on any one. nor doi stand for hinduism. i recommend this book to all those who have a quest to find the reality. u dont have to be a hindu to read it. i would that its something like the "goljan" of spirituality.
if any one has already read it or intend to read it, please do so with the concept of ENERGY in mind. when u think in terms of this, every explanation, every reasoning becomes crystal clear.
if any one comes up with any doubt regarding whats said in geetha, i am ready to answer as best as i can based on my understanding.

EEks..............SANDRA if nothing u are are brave and can stand up for ur convictions.Now i know how u'l be with ur USMLE intensely focused and energized and probably a great inspiration for us all.really looking foward to read how u go about it.
MEDIOCRE even though u gave urself an awful id u are strong too...so i know that u'll do great as well.
BTW i don't believe in religion per se'...my faith is that we all do what we do to the best for the good of self and everyone...if we can't be good Humans no point being anything else?(Selfish ehh?)So..i easily go to all places of worship look up to all forms of God,respect others sentiments till they don't cause harm. Like u said after all religion is just a medium to the ultimate Supreme energy.Some ppl.get there where as the others like me probably keep searching in the religion/religions for the Supreme truth.
Also if our minds can't come up with the realiztion or the spiritual awakening of its own what are a few books going to do?like the KaPlan we all so much love to read and re-read but if we can't come up with the answers to the qs. what's the use.
So to each is own..Search if u may but we all need to come up with the answers and be right about them.Bless each other and God will bless you!I think that sud get FOUSUMLE off the hook.

thanks mytime.
thank you for ur encouragement. i reaLLY would not be surprised if people laugh at me or my ideas. when ever some one came up with a new thought, the world opposed. what happened to some one who said earth is round for the first time?( sorry i dont remember his name) he was stoned and was put behind the bars coz people thought he was insane.
all prophets and philosophers in history had to undergo many hardships for expressing their ideas. its difficult to erase the deep rooted beliefs of people(im not saying belief in god..what i mean is the notions regarding what god is) one fine day. it takes time. people realized the great teachhings of philosophers and prophets like jesus and socrates long after they were gone.
now dont think im proclaiming im one among them
but im sure about one thing. the concept of god=universal energy and that we all are a part of it will be realized and accepted by public sooner or later coz thats the truth.
jesus rightly said that he is the son of god. every atom in this universe is his son.
