Hi,
I am a IMG and have an H1B visa for a research possition in georgia and adding an ammendemt on my H1B visa I can do my training with the same visa status, but I must take step 3 before starting the postgraduate training program. However, the license requirements in GA (where I am supposed to finally practice medicine) do not allow me to take step 3 before the training. How can I find a loop for this issue? Somebody told me that there is a "sit cold" option (?), something like apllying for step 3 in other state, but I do not understand since when you apply for step 3 you have to meet the requirements of the individual licensing authority to which you are applying for.
If this were an option what states allows to take step 3 without having yet the training?

Please if someone went into a similar experience and can give me an advise, I will be very thankfull

Hi,
I am sorry I cannot answer your question, indeed, I have a question to yousmiling face.
I am now in the last year of medical school. Next year I am planning to go to US for research(to Boston, MA) (then, residency). Now I am thinking about the visa type.
Can I get an H1B, if my boss in US submits a petition for me? I mean is it difficult to get an H1B?
I will be very glad if you answer.
Thanks a lot.

I got my H1B visa to work as researcher in a field in which I have a long experience. Probably the chances to obtain a HiB visa depend on the balance between of the needs of the employee, your skills, and a little of lucky. Trying to contact people/universities that need researchers does noy hurt

Hi veterana,
As far as I know, in order to get H1B visa for research, you have to show (in the application) a salary of some amount (I don't know exactly the amount, but is it $30,000 annually?); is it correct? If I (actually my sponsor in US) show some salary, is it enough to get the H1B or does it have a minimum amount?
Thanks a lot!!
