You're right, people have different oppinions based on different experiences. I personally believe it's one of the best books for Step 1. Still, don't neglect the rest of them, adnotate your FA until there's no little blank space left and you got yourself a golden review book for the last weeks before the exam.

I personally believe that if you know your charts and figures well from your regular review book then better stick to them. FA is having the advantage that its all summarised in one book so you are relaxed to see one book in your hand and not a pile of them. Also, since its handy you can carry it around wherever you go. So, if you are confident that you know your text well stick to your books if not then FA is a good substitute. GL

I agree with klimt. If you use FA as a notebook and memory aid of stuff you already read and understood in some other more descriptive book, you will do great in the exam. Since almost every question they ask is in there in one way or another. But if you use it to understand concepts you haven't cover before or don't understand, you will be disappointed with the results.

Having taken the Step just a few days ago, i honestly think one could pass the Step using just First Aid. (Keeping in mind that that's if you memorize every single word in first aid!!!!!!!!!!) Almost every question that i can recall from my Step was covered in First Aid. I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but also keep in mind that EVERYONE's TEST IS DIFFERENT!!! Maybe i just got lucky with my test, and got more recall than concept.
