Hello guys,
I want to write my step 1 exam in Aug 15th and I was told that this exam period is hard and that I should take exam sometime in the fall. Their reason is that All U.S. and Candian students take the exam Jun-July-Aug and that since the exam is "percentile", I'll be makred against the rest of the student pool thus may end up getting lower grade than I can obtain if I had to take the exam with international graduates. In short: I'm FM student from the Caribbean and I want to know whether I should take the exam in Aug or Oct 2007.

Thanks.

That's a bunch of bullocks! There is absolutely no better or worse time to take the Step1, no matter what anyone says.

The percentile scores are calculates based on the results during the last 10 years, not the last 2 months! So ignore all the gossip and take the test when you are ready!!!

Thanks guys. this is what I thought. Those students who don't believe their abilities are the ones who often use this kind of approach to scare those who believe their abilities. I noticed that some FMG students think that since they are not American/Canadian graduates that they are less prepared thus they think that they can't score as good as local graduates. I totally disagree with this group b/c at the end of the day it comes down to: 1. how well you studied during your basics 2. How much you are willing to read during your prep period. In short: Hard workd, hard work, and hard work pays off not your place of education. You can be from Harvard and fail if you don't study hard.

Take care and thanks.
