Maybe someone can help. I have multiple failures on all steps. I have only to complete Step 2 CK and then Step 3 then I will be done but I can not take Step 2 CK again for a few months. Should I apply for residency (I am applying for a non-competitive residency) now with all the Step 2 failures, wait until Step 2 is hopefully done (December) or scramble? I have struggled on everything, steps, preclinicals, but did very very well on clinicals and that is the only reason I am continuing. It has been hard because everything I have done has been done alone and with no one to help even when I ask. I have been through personal hardships as well as the problems with my education which has not helped. I would do anything to help a person because that is how I was taught but it does not seem to be the way here. If anyone can recommend a person who has been through something similar please write or email me. I thought medicine was the profession where people helped others and all I see is people helping themselves.

i think you should post this in the residency forum where there are lots of experienced people who know more about the match process. they will be better able to advise you. in my own mind, i would think to wait and pass step 2ck before applying. the match is so expensive you dont want to throw money away. it is always tougher when you dont have all the steps avaible and even tougher for someone without a pass at first attempt. i know many people who sat steps 1 and 2 at more than 1 sitting each and they got residencies of their choice so dont worry. it may take time but eventually you will get there. all the best.

Thank you both tolito and dr.pumpkin for your encouragement. You could have just read and ignored but you did not. I hope to work with future doctors as sincere and helpful as both of you. Good luck to both of you.

well i may not know what ur going thru but i sure know how failures taste like..I worked for 9months and when i got my step result it was a just pass .At first i was v sad .then i decided to be thankful for what i got..There are many ppl who are losing loved ones and to them its the end of the world, but failures at studies shouldnt be considered end of the world.Just be hopeful and thankful ul feel that u have a new spirit , a new motivation to work..

Thank you all. Having that spirit is sometimes the hardest thing and it is good that we are all encouraging each other.
