True, but it's a very rare cause associated almost always with a genetic defect.... what about possible causes for false hypotriglyceridemia in usch circumstances?

well lipase level will be elevated in pancreatitis [very specific for tht], so it will digest the triglycerides present in the serum! thus decreasing its level! but how can hypertryglyceridemia lead to pancreatitis, whtz the mechanism of tht?

Yes extreme elevation of TG more than 1000mg/dl can lead to acute pancreatitis

Mechanism is unknown, ssrpk. Occurs almost always associated with the rare Hyperlipidemia V if I remember correctly (so it takes sky-high hypertriglyceridemia like star1 pointed out), and they're not sure if it's the genetic defect that causes both hypertriglyceridemia and pancreatitis, or causes hypertriglyceridemia which in turn is responsible for pancreatitis...
