I have signed with all the junkand spam mail services .And i keep my mail alert at full volume ..SO I get 50 junk mails which make a big bang sound on entering my mail box. whenver I get a "BBBIISSHHH" sound I cry out aloud -its mayo or its harvard....I have to do this at least 50 times a day ..SO each day is bringing a lot of thrill and adventure into my daily life..I am loving it.

I am using incredimail and I dont need to check my mail, as whenever mail comes delivery boy comes on my screen. I have made a new mail account only for MATCH and hence no other mail comes on this address.

I dont want to go anywhere, just sitting near the computer.

Yes, my OCD was so bad, I had to stop logging on to email and forums. Now I do it only once every 15 min or so :-().

Guys we are on brink of adding new behavior to the list of OCD behaviors...Report it to DSM-4 so that they can update guidelines for the diagnosis ! smiling face

Every 10 mins!
Apart from OCD, the silence of my mailbox has made me believe my account's hacked...
Oops...now i'm delusional....rolling eyes

Hi to all, move over to firefox browser, install gmail or yahoo mail notifier, so if you hve any mails it will let you know. You do not need to log in.

I used to have my outlook express on all day from 9 to 5. But since there has been little luck except false alarms that always startles me, I have decided to check emails only twice a day: at noon and at 5.

  #17

mindmentor: lol!

i havent turned the spam guard off,so I get few mails with the gbshhhhhshhhhhshhhhh,

but i make sure i check the bulk mail too. letters from 2 programs came to mymailbox only and not to the eras messages,so watch out!

i think we as a profession are self-punishing...checking our e-mails every half hour for new messages is the ultimate punishment...

Thanks maverick .I was very concerned about you .Good to see that you are recovering .Take care next time.DOnt volunteer yourself for explaining things to.................................. cant write it now .Already under threat .Read between the lines.

These scars will remind you of things which you should never undertake in future.

All the time, you won't believe, because my thinking is, "What if I got something right now, let me check it again!". Tons so stress. I am swimming in an ocean of stress (lame metaphor, I know, but it's the only one I could come up with, given the fact that I've just gotten home, just checked my mail, and found another little wonderful rejection from Nevada University FP)!

Best of luck to everyone!

Good to know that many guys here are having OCD. I was getting paranoid, if its only me with this OCD. I have all the features, obsession with emails from programs. compulsion to check it as frequently as possible ( I am working, and email acess is difficult).

Distress if not able to check email. Distress relieved the moment i check my email. having an insight that what i am doing is not needed.

Wish we all get over this phase and happily say I am matched......
