PHYSCIANS typically do that , while they are explaining the diagnosis. we all feel awkward to tell the bad news, so use a defence called intellectualization. go into unncessary details of etiology pathophysiology of the diagnosis, which patient hardly needs. it could be isolation, when physician tells his own traumatic experience to his wife/freinds with no affect. (inappropriate mood) he is isolating the affect there, and telling ..that is isolation.
