Crime sucks everywhere in the country. Is anyone safe? I've had more trouble in the safe suburbs than I have in the urban area where I work. Doesn't every big city everywhere in the world have a neighborhood that is unsafe??? (Still shuddering about acknowledging emails about interview dates)

You have a valid point BBB.Now whenever I talk about a location in USA ,everybody starts talking about safety and crime. Is the situation so bad. I have been in cities(outside USA) where the crime rate is very high .But I never had to change my ways because of that (was it becuase i am a criminal too or because people are aware of my antiguruchu combat skills) Is the situation so bad in USA.I think not..By looking at the discussion here, it seems that criminals fly like buttlerflies and crawl like ants and lizzards on every road in USA .SO when one walks on these roads one has to move like an acrobat perpetually negotiating away from these nasty creatures to avoid getting caught ,or mugged. Is it so bad .

Hi all: thanks for your input. BBB, you brought up a good point. Indeed there are safe and dangerous neighborhoods in almost every big cities. personally i have lived in a rather dangerous town in my home country. Do, laptop I do not think the situation is so bad at all and I definitively meant not discourage anyone from big cities at all. just thought to have a rough idea about some dangerous places for people who not very knowledgeble about US geography. in my case i decided not to apply to programs in detroit and camden for example. Still applying to NY (brooklyn and bronx). I still hoped I will meet you BBB. In sum, I will not based solely decision on a program based on this, but those who have family will probably consider it as a factor. Hope this helps and I am glad that people have voiced their opinion. good luck, ngt.
