As a chromosomal condition, there is no "cure" for Turner syndrome. However much can be done to minimize the symptoms. For example: Growth hormone, either alone or with a low dose of androgen, will improve growth velocity and probably final adult height. Growth hormone is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for treatment of Turner syndrome and is covered by many insurance plans. Estrogen replacement therapy has been used since the condition was described in 1938 to promote development of secondary sexual characteristics. Estrogens are also important for maintaining good tissue and bone integrity. Modern reproductive technologies have also been used to help women with Turner syndrome become pregnant if they desire. For example, a donor egg can be used to create an embryo, which is carried by the Turner syndrome woman.

yes, may be invitro fertilization is the choice Turner women are usually amenorrhic....how do we suspect & confirm that she got pregnant? What about Uterus in turner women....will it be able to carry on the pregnancy & function normally?

Amazingly enough, Turner's patients have been reported to have kids. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd... Though i'm not sure if invivo is the "best" option, it is an option!

The woman should be evaluated for pregnancy C/I such as cardiac & renal ( as most Turner pts have) prior to conception. i would think the best option would be adoption.

me too, probably those with turner sdr that are reported to have been able to have children were mosaics. as far as i know, or as far as we should go for this exam anyway, if its turner with 45,XO she has no oocytes left after 2 years of age, so she would be infertile maybe if we hormonally stimulate the ovaries of a (45,XO;46,XX) woman, we can obtain a pregnancy
