what is the role of pericardiocentesis and pericardial cathaterization in cardiac temponade?

if the pt is unstable, esp if its a traum apt ,

suspect

1. hemorrhage

2. tension pneumothorax

3. pericardial tamponade.

in the latter we have to go for the pericardiocentesis immediateley to restore hemodynamic stability.
