a 30 yr old presents with periorbital edema. he is an only son.His mother is extremely woried. before u eevn proceed. her husband died of hepatitis C and she remembers he had edema too. She insists he gets the best of treatment. Despite limited resources, she is sure their african american community will bear the cost of the expenses together. some way or the other. on further assessment, the case is more suggestive of nephrotic syndrome. urinalysis is positive for proteinuria and 24 hr excretion is 4.5 g/dl. what will be the most likely finding on renal biopsy?

a) membranoproliferative

b) memranous

c) minimal change

d) focal segmental glomerulosclerosis

e) cresecent formation

f) frank haemorrhage

this was a surprise to me too.

remmeber to d/dt between overall vs the given pt.

MCC of nephrotic in adults is membranous. in african americans its FSSG.

also the mcc in HIV and IV drug abuse is d)
