Hi ppl,
I'm sure all of us are hanging in there waiting for interviews.
I need help regrding my SOP. Can I quote a few real life incidents during my internship in my sop. Anecdotes which motivated me to pursue a particular field of education. Or shud it be very generalised.

Please quote with originality.... if something motivated you and made your life different in a significant way, go ahead.
But keep the story original- It's your story!
Avoid cliches.... Good luck!

Anecdotes if described well make your PS interesting to read and give it a character.Giving anecdotes and examples is alwasy better than saying things like i am punctual ,i am hardworking ,i run after girls ,i bunked school and things like that
One very important thing is that your anecdote should blend well with the SOP .If you are inserting it as your source of motivation then it should look like a motivational source to everybody.

Well they are real life incidents which motivated me.
I got my visa at the end of my 1st answer as to why i chose MPH which was an anecdote. Really.
So i hope this works out too.

good luck,,Use pursuasive arguements to justify your motivation..I am sure you will make a rocking ps
I wrote in my ps that i was chasing my dog who was running after a cat which in turn was pursuing some bank robber rats.The leader rat was the son of medical school Principal.When we all were running he was running too.When i ran by him he said why are you running .I said to catch the dog.He said 'dont catch dog ,catch rat '.i caught rat,saved him and got the medical school spot in reward...THis made my ps bothe sensational and interesting ,,
What happened to dog and cat..they fell in love and got married..Later because of infertility problems they adopted the rat.Now rat is the principal of med school(i didnt write this later part in the ps coz motivation came from the first part.)

THanks Vijay for picking the right things up.I was worried that you might catch me on the wrong side of the fence.Vai s advice is very sound..So good that you have taken that seriously too.
As of my PS ,it rambled from one anecdote to another and so on..Now i have to go n visit my med school to see the dog cat and rat family.I am expecting my interview quest to be based on that.Apparently tthe dog ,cat couple have gone around the fertility problem by going for in-vitro fertilization.RAt ,anticipating some sibling rivvalry is in emotional turmoil because of this and this is causing me a difficulty in getting his signature on my Deans letter.I will see what i can do.

i just hope i'm taking things the right way.
So its cool to quote more than 1 anecdote. I just thought I shud probably limit myself to 1 or max 2 anecdotes. Cos I have atleast 3 things which motivated me
1-to join med school
2- to do mph
3- for the choice of my speciality
seriously is it ok to quote all the three anecdotes. Is it ok if my sop comes to 2 pages or will it sound boring...........too long

iF YOU BASE YOUR ps ON MORE than 2 ,then it will become hard to prevent it from becoming a fairy tale.Each anecdote comes with a relevance and an explanation .Maintaining the flow from one anecdote to another will be difficult.I would say avoid too many.2 at max.Your writing skills will have a major say into how many and how.I can offer only my advise
Portray your anecdotes in a vivid manner compulsive enough to make the reader have a first hand experience of being there.
And no more than one and a half page.2 is too much.
