I applied to 20 programs around New York, NJ, Pennsylvania last week. No calls yet. I can see some programs have download but some not. So I think it is still early. Be patient. But I think it is great idea that we should keep this pathology thread going. People who apply to pathology, please leave your message. This will help everybody. Yuxin

Hi,Amit: I sent out 28 programs around NY area. But actually many of them are community-based, which are not my first choice since I am more into research (university programs). I don't know how hard it will be. But I believe that we have done our best and we should be confident to compete. I got 93/93 on both steps and did cs two weeks ago. I had MD at 1996 and Ph.D. at 2000 and has a paper in Nature. 3 American LOR (research not clinical). Let us keep in touch, Yuxin

Hi, Its nice to see a path thread finally! I am interested in patho residency, have applied to around 25 programs.old grad, 92/92/cs passed, no usce, preparing for step3. have some research experience. so far have only applied to programs sponsoring H1b. Should I increase the applications to include J 1 sponsoring programs or wait till I hear from the programs that I applied to?

hi psycho...i had the same plan as you, only applying to hib sponsoring hospital...but as time passed I got more anxious and pumped up my applications from 40 to 60......i figured is better J1 than no residency and i fugured is better still on sept that to be considered a late applicant in oct when there's a chance all the interviw spots are filled.....just my 2 cents....

how important are the reccomendation letters when applying to the programs. I have 2 us lors (research) but one has not been uploaded yet...so I applied without it so as not to be late....now I am thinking I should have waited.

Well, I did get one reply today saying my application "has been received and reviewed by the Departmental Residency Advisory Committee. No further action on your part is required at this time. You will be notified if further information is required." Is this a polite rejection?

I read a Pathology forum on the website of "Scutwork.com". They are several people have received 1 or 2 or 5 interview emails. Take a look

Yuxin: thanks for sharing the site with us. I looked at it quickly, my impression is they are mostly AMGs. So there is a big difference there. BTW, I'm an IMG.

Hi, Lucky-Tiger: Thanks for checking it out. I thought that too. But still feel shocked. I am IMG too. So far I have one interview at Yale. I am really excited. But nothing else. How about you? Do you think this year pathology is more competitive? Let us see what will come next week. Yuxin

Yuxin: Congrats on the Yale inv, I applied there too, but have not heard anything yet. I guess I need to wait longer..... When I looked other forum, somehow got an idea that Path's popularity in the past decades were kind of wax and wane, in 2000 it was very competitive. I guess it depends on how many AMGs and IMGs are applying to it. More AMGs, more competitive for us IMGs. Let's see if this week will be better. GL to you. Tiger

Rejection from Mount Sinai Pathology. Better rejection than wondering until the end, right? calls so far from GWU, Georgetown, Baystate/Tufts.
