For those posting interviews and credentials here: guys you are in a DEADLY RACE !!!! .
Many times I saw a post like this" here post your interviews to help others...". The correct version is: " post your interviews and credentials and HELP OTHERS TAKE YOUR SEAT"
Let's see what a user has written on this:
"My experience:
I applied to 60 Prgs on Sept 1th No calls until last week.
Then I read experiences from 3 posts receiving IV invitations in my specialty.
Motivated from these I applied to the same progs.
Guess what...
2 calls after 24 hours of application downloaded by the prog!!
Just making it clear,
these 2 calls were from 2 of the 3 new applications...
So people, this is the result. There are a lot of guys hunting your interview posts. Many of them applied without doing research on programs. When they see that you got a call from a hospital, the next second they apply there.
So let's think, to help others for what. To win the game against you?

punj79 i agree this is a strong tendency.but i guess its no harm in posting where u got an interview from without posting your credentials.in that way others can cross out those programs from their lists.
what say?

punj79 I completely disagree with U
tell me: those guys who help U throughout the year(Apurva, coolbabe, iceman.. etc), aren't they competing with U for the same seats??? why should they tell U how to have a good LoR & to complete ur CAF, if that will make U stand agaist them?!!
about the applicant who got 2 interviews of the experience posts: what do U think, does the PD creat an extra seat for him??? he has taken a seat that would B taken anyway by another applicant !!! the net result : U'll compete with the same No. of persons , so why not to help others?!!

I'm sorry, no offences R intended, but I want to tell everyonce (especially silent readers): this forum is hold by ur help, there is no professional paid official stuff.. so help others to find one help U,
I became senior member with 183 posts without even starting to study any USMLE exam, I've not graduated even!!, how can U get help from this site till U become resedents without helping others, even for once ?!!!

superboard, I respect your oppinion on this subject. I also appreciate the altruism of those wonderful guys who spend a lot of time teaching others how to fill their CAF. That was before tha race so everybody starts from equal positions.
But now the race has already started. Everybody should play for himself. We shoudn't try neither advantage nor disadvantage others.

Any one depending on only info from this forum must have been born yesterday
And with just this bit of info he/she wont go far in the long run

well superabood.the issue here is not abt helping others.ofcourse we all have gained a lot in these last few months from the forum and maybe we wud all be a little lost without it.its abt being disadvantaged in any way.not everyone can apply to 250 programs.we all pick and choose acc to our budgets.and i just feel if people get afraid of posting their interview calls.we might never know which programs are sending out invites and have completed their screening and we will be in the dark till end of nov.the people in 99s dont need to worry much as they are bound to get lots of calls but then again not everyone has a 99.
so chill out man.these days are bad enough already

We are separated from our goal(aka Residency) by sophisticated fence (USMLE Steps, Residency application process and interview process). Together, and only together, coordinating our efforts and sharing information, can we make it on the other side of the fence. Proven fact!

ok punj & sobia , I can understand ur point of view only if the guys who will apply after ur experience posts will creat new slots for interview & take it, in BBB program 150 interview slots R available, let the guy apply when U tell him & he will displace another person to have his interview slot, he won't displace U coz U R already invited........ what have U lost? U made the program of BBB have 1880 applications instead of 1830 application?? ..... ok,now look look to its better side: U'll know 20 more places(where othere R invited) to have interviews in

ok now if I want to play for my own as a professional: I'll mislead U through out the year (as here U can displace me from the interview slot which is not yet granted for me).. simply I can tell U false data make ur LoRs invalid & maybe ur CAF will B missing.. I'll make BBB program have only 1770 interviews..
look: there is certain fixed nomber will B interviewed against U in each program.. all what R we doing here is to strengthen our forum members to take the places of others, but in the end &'ll compete with 149 persons in BBB program
BTW: guys who will start misleading for the next season tell me plz.... so that I won't consider ur openion when U advice me

one more thing that struck me: for the no of people that post here, there are ten times more who just read and dont contribute.
so it doesnt just increase application no. by 30 but by 300 at least.
we should make the forum posts visible to only those who contribute as else we are helping guys who just read our posts for their benefit and never help others
proof of such people: 1) u will many times see posts saying i was a freuent visitor but never contributed.
2) its human nature to just read, and not contribute. not everyone is altruistic enough or with enough time to help
so ban those who only view and dont help

i agree 100% with that. i always help to others when i can and know something about any question, but i really dislike those Ļsilent readersĻ. itīs unfair, itīs not mutual or reciprocal.

despite how misleading and unethical other forums got during last years match, this forum remained pretty reliable in information. I think a large part of that goes to the forum leadership, bbb and other seniors. As much as people are trying to help you out there, they are also those that will mislead and manipulate you. Try to analyze everything you read with a dose of common sense; if it sounds too good to be true, or too pathetic to be false... well you get the idea. While the match draws closer and competition gets cutthroat; expect the helpful posts to die down... (this forum got pretty quiet around last jan)... so if you have any questions or worries, now is the time to get them answered.

many times - many of my friends call me many things which imply that im bein suicidal in helpin every1 else. i really dont care. trust me after 2yrs in this - u defin begin to believe in destiny. there were so many things that happened to me by pure fluke which wud have been impossible otherwise. im one of the most logical dudes on earth. but what is destined to b mine will b mine.
how many will u misguide? only the ones who have felt the pain of havin unmatched can understand its true hurt.
its no use competiting with others. there are too many. compete with urself and there lies the way to ur dreams.

Well, I might not have the right comment for this tough topic.
HOwever I would like to say something...
Aparently some people here is "angry" somehow after seeing how others "silent users" take advantage of their posts.
Am I right?
Then I will ask all of you guys:
Why were this forums created if not for this purpouse?
Many of you have the experience enough to leade people through all this complex process of Matching and sure all of you find some confort helping others.
But the question is: Are you going to feel discourage or even annoyed if some of your posts or advises help others to get more calls or even to match in the same program you applied?
I dont understand this doble feelling.
So Puj, with all due respect, I dont think somebody else is going to steal your chances just becouse he/she a applied and got a call after reding your post. This narrow minded tough would end with these forums.
Laptop, come and say something!!!
Sure it will be enough to leave this thread with a smile!

I believe that true human strength and wisdom is in helping others, being tolerant and supportive. That's what makes us better human beings.
Don't see how shielding info from others can change anything. Strong candidates will get their interview calls, weak candidates won't. It's as simple as that!
