  #179

Dear Neuro-Fan-Friends,

I hope you all have had a nice holiday season!

I had the best holiday ever; I was offered a prematch that I accepted.
It is an integrated program so I 'll start my training next July! I am so happy!! Now I am going to cancel my iv-s so that others can get a chance to iv with really great programs like Hopkins and U of Chicago or Tufts.

Good Luck to everyone and have a Happy New year!!

Mufurc

great.. i never knew neuro programs would give prematch.. where is that? if you don't mind

  #181

mufurc, was it jackson memorial or u penn?
i've been offered prematch at both would sign one in near future.. i'm leaning towards u penn..

  #182

Hey Bowwow,

Congratulations! nod
Those are both great programs (I got the prematch in NY)! I agree with you I would choose UPenn over Miami, too. Of course this is only my very subjective opinion... Either way you will get an excellent training. Congratulations again!

Happy New Year!

Thanks. .congrats to you as well. May I ask which hospital in NY?

This is a pretty crazy year.. I would have preferred NY but I only got two interview from SUNY Brooklyn and Rochester which have not offered a prematch. I dont want to go to the match.

  #184

congrats to mufurc and bowwownod

  #185

Congratulations for you both!
Do you guys think that graduation year is very important for Neurology match?
Thanks in advance!

yingying, it would probably depend on the program, and things you have done after graduation. although i understand that its part of the screening criteria, and probably if the secretary sees that you're not a recent graduate, they take you out the list. i'm considering that since i only got 3 interviews and i graduated 2002. maybe... did you join the match this year?

  #187

hey all,

does anyone have any info for university of illinois- peoria neurology program..interview,program ratings etc.

thanks!

  #188

Hi, gulliermo,

Actually I have not started yet, I plan to pass the step 1 at the end of next year.
How about you?

  #189

  #190

I just started to review the books. I do not have enough time for it, so it may take me more time to finish reviewing the books.
How's your scores? old graduate? if you do not mind.

I have last year stats.
This info is from SFmatch
jan 2006
registration 1134
IMG 695
Matched 500
unfillled positions 38
in the last 10 years the number of positions left are between 111 and 22 most of then around 40

i hope this helps
wink

  #195

But this year has been so weird, so no one knows whats going to happen!!!confused

  #196

exactly, i wish we still have sanfo matchshaking head

  #197

wait chuckmd, is that statistics correct.. well that would mean around 50% matching only..even less.... i thought the neuro match rate is higher than internal medicine...

  #198

Yes, guillermo thats the infoI participated in SF match last year, I didn't match because I wasn't certified at that time and I applied very late (November). The stats are as followsIMG registration 695IMG match 50%AMG match 93%Now, this year is going to be very different, because I think some people applied to neuro just as a backup, so maybe, maybe there's going to be more unfilled positions
And this is my only hope this year, I don't know if I would participate in the next match. Since this year I didn't have any IV
I know is a long shot, but is not over untill the fat lady sings!!!!!!!!!!gringrin
