I have a rather silly question with regard to the uploading of LOR's. Neverthless it is bothering me and I am hoping some of the senior members of this forum will be able to help me. We send out the LOR's to ECFMG documentation services and they scan them and upload them. In the CAF, we designate LOR writers (their names, title and their speciality). Who takes the responsibility of matching the actual letters to the names we list out in the CAF? Basically my question is when applying to a program, we select 4 LOR's, how can we guarantee that the correct LOR's are transmitted to the university? My LOR's have not yet been uploaded so this is all new to me. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I am also in the same confusion. I wanted to apply without uploaded LORs because it is taking hell lot of time. One thing I understand is that when you assign the LORs to a speciality that speciality gets all the LORs you have assigned to it, not more not less. As far as your qs goes, I guess it is an ERAS person who uploads them and decides which LOR to go under which name you have created in the application, but I am not sure though.

ECFMG officials do the matching. Just hope and pray that they know what they are doing. That's why its best to give only minimal docs(whatever is absolutely necessary.
