hi, could anyone kindly help me how to answer those CAF Qs?

1. page 4, "previous residency training", should i say 2 years internal medicine residency training on a whole. or list out all the department such as cardiovascular disease ... ext with roughly 2 month each?

2. page 5, "experience", it shows supervisor name for research experience only. does it mean i can leave it blank if i choose "working experience" instead of "research experience" even though my work is research related? and "organization". should i write country as well?

3. page 5, "supervisor name", should i title like Phd after my supervisor's name?

4. page 5, "reason for leaving". do i need to write a reason or just leave it blank? same, do i need to write "description" or just leave it blank?

5. page 6, "publication". do you write paper manuscript which has been submitted but not accepted yet?

6. page 10, "race", is it better to answer or no answer?

7. page 11, "ethnicity", answer or no answer?

8. page 12, "interest and hobbies", do you simply write for say "swimming etc" or really write up to 510 words?

9. page 12, same for "honors and awards," need write a long assay or just list out your awards?

10. page 12, "are you able to carry out the responsibilities of a resident in the specialities and at the specific tranining programs to which you are applying including the functional requirements, cognitive requirements, interpersonal and communication requirements, and attendance requirements with or without reasonable accomodations?" in fact, i don't understand the question itself. should be yes, right? and then "limiting aspects", what does it mean?

any answer will be very appreciated. thanks guys. smiling face

ANswer)Your own call-whatever you do should be theoritically fine.IMHO divinding one 2 year residency into 12 blocks of 2 months each will make it evisceratingly painful to read.WHoat would you like to read if you were to evaluate your own file.

2)2. page 5, "experience", it shows supervisor name for research experience only. does it mean i can leave it blank if i choose "working experience" instead of "research experience" even though my work is research related? and "organization". should i write country as well?

Answer)Yes you can if you wish. Its a good idea to write countrys name.

3. page 5, "supervisor name", should i title like Phd after my supervisor's name?

Answer)Did your supervisers mother use to call him PhD:or was his fathers surname and thus his surname PhD.If not then not .If yes then ask him to change his name.

page 5, "reason for leaving". do i need to write a reason or just leave it blank? same, do i need to write "description" or just leave it blank?
A)your own call again;if you were reading somebody elses application what would you have prefffered. Both the things are possible. Which one looks better. To me filling the description and reason for leaving looks better

5. page 6, "publication". do you write paper manuscript which has been submitted but not accepted yet?

Ans)No idea.My common sense says ,yes you can write it but mention"truth " somewhere in the description

6)6. page 10, "race", is it better to answer or no answer?

Not answering will leave questions unanswered which is worse than being honest. If world was an ideal place you could have put "no answer "there .

7)7. page 11, "ethnicity", answer or no answer?
aNS)BOTH ARE OK ..i answered..which one will you prefer

8)8. page 12, "interest and hobbies", do you simply write for say "swimming etc" or really write up to 510 words?

Ans)both are ok..I described in vivid details....If you are passionate about sumthing writing a sentence or two will be better..if its just a timepass --you can write the name

9)page 12, same for "honors and awards," need write a long assay or just list out your awards?

If you have got many awards to list ,just write the name.If very few but important awards -write the description of the award to make its worth felt .

!0)Answer-Yes,No limiting aspects unless you have some major disability. If i were given an opportunity to frame the CAF then i would have given a choice of "did not understand the Q" in the choice.

Now please appreciate my answeres.I have spent a lot of time in writing them .Good luck

hi, another Q, for medical degree, different countries offer different degrees. should we all put our original degree as it appears in certificate (mine is Bachelor of Medicine, MB) or just put as Doctor of Medicine MD)? will MB sounds wierd to american doctors? thanks a lot.

  #7

Unless MB Stands for MEN IN BLACK ,you can put MB..IF the degree is there in the options then you must choose what u have and not any other degree. If your degree is not there in the available options then you can choose whichever you want with MD as your first choice.
