A middle-aged woman on several over-the-counter drugs develops constipation and urinary retention. She is probably on:

A. Cimetidine
B. Diphenhydramine
C. Docusate Na+
D. Ibuprofen
E. Guaiafenesin

B

The symptoms indicate anti-cholinergic side-effects. Hence Diphenhydramine.

ANS B IS STRAIGHT FORWARD APPROACH BUT THE STATEMENT "OVER THE COUNTER DRUGS" SIGNIFIES THAT CIMETIDINE WHICH IS HEPATIC ENGYME INHIBITER MIGHT BE POTENTIATING THE EFFECT OF THOSE DRUGS AND CAUSING THESE SIDE EFFECTS PLZ CORRECT ME IF I M WRONG OR SOME EXPERT OPINION

As far as i know, Cimetidine is NOT an over the counter drug. Or at least not in Canada/USA. None of the H2-blockers are.

And yes even though it could potented the adverse effects of other drugs, it's clearly not the best answer in this scenario, as there's another drug that directly causes the aforementioned side-effects.
