Hello everyone! I am a medical student from Sweden in my final year. My university has just signed an agreement with UTSA, University of Texas at San Antonio, regarding exchange program. I have the oppertunity to come for a semester to UTSA. It's ofcourse the clincal part of my education. I need some advice. I want to come for my last semester. Here in Sweden at the last semester is divided in two eqaully long parts. Part 1: Public Health and Forensic Medicine Part 2: A research project. Since I want to practice medicine in USA. I need USCE desperately in order to maximise my chances fro getting an attractive residency. I want to exploat this opportunity to the top. So I wanna do the research project in Sweden so I wont be stuck in a lab when I am in USA. That time I want to spend in a clinic. At the same time I m wondering if it would be wise to skip the whole public health and forensic medicine part as well and choose a whole semester to be clinical rotations in medicine and surgery despartments. I can always do the forensic medicine and publich health part back home in sweden. This way I will have 6 months USCE with opportunity to get strong letters of recomendations. What do you guys think? I would appriciate your advice! Sincerely /Sam PS: Is UTSA a good medical school? How high is it ranked in USA?
