Dear fellows!
Could anyone express their opinion on Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease by Ramzi S. Cotran, Vinay Kumar and Tucker Collins, Sixth Edition 1999 (see http://www.amazon.com/Robbins-Pathologic-Disease-...) as a possible source for step 1 preparation? raised eyebrow
Thank you in advance

Alex

6th ed. (1999) of 'Robbins & Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease' is an old ed. - 7th ed. (2004) is the last one:

http://www.amazon.com/Robbins-Cotran-Pathologic-B...

RCPBD may be too much for the USMLE step 1.

If you can wait before March 23, 2007, I would recommend new 8th ed. of 'Robbins Basic Pathology' instead - it's appr. half of the size of RCPBD:

http://www.amazon.com/Robbins-Basic-Pathology/dp/...

apart of these 2 textbooks, there are also 3 great USMLE review books in the 'Robbins family':

Pocket Companion to Robbins & Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease,

Robbins & Cotran Atlas of Pathology, &

Robbins & Cotran Review of Pathology.

you can read my comments about these books at http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/thread/34011 and at www.amazon.com (my nick is the same there).

I'm in love with Robbin's BASIC Pathology. (the smaller one, the one p53 recommended also)

I only recommend you get the BIG Pathologic basis of disease (the one you posted), if you're studying for a Pathology specialist board certification exam.

Guys, thank you so much for your reply. The thing is that I've got this book a couple of years ago as a "present"wink, so I wanted to know if it is useful for this exam.
Mediocre, thanks a lot for the link!
p53 and young_doc, thank you for sharing your opinion with me. I am probably going to start with other sunjects (bio, immuno, micro...) and look for the optimal source for pathology meanwhile

Good luck to you all!
