75 Y/O m presents to emegency department with respiratory failure. he is intubated and put on the rspirator..he is unconcious and likely to die without mechanical ventilation.later that evening, family brings his advance directive to u which clearly states that he never wanted to have life sustaining interventions including mechanical ventilation..what is most appropriate next step?? 1.take him off the ventilator 2.tell the family is too late for the living will 3.ask to speak the lawyer who constructed the document. 4.obtain ethics committee consult.
