65 y/o june..comes to ur office C/O difficulty walkin up to stairs of her appartment. exam is significant for violaceous rash on the knuckles of her hands and a rash on her eyelid..what is best initial tests?

1.ANA

2.rhumatoid factor

3.muscle biopsy

4.aldolase

5.EMG

I think it is Dermatomyositis which involves Skin-Polymyositis doesnt involve skin.Since muscle biopsy is confirmatory i chose ANA as initial.Hey study-ing cud you tell whereelse aldolase is used?As far as i know it is in Duchennes at birth.Thanks

4.is correct aldolase...proximal muscle weakness.Gottron,s papules..and a halitropic rash make the diagnosis of polymyosities likely..the best initial diagnostic test is either serumCPK or aldolase.smiling face
