Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your inquiry about the Internal Medical Residency
Program in the Department of Medicine at the New York Presbyterian
Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center. The Department recruits for
three program tracks: 1) Three Year Categorical Track (35 positions);
2) Primary Care Track (four positions); and, 3) Medical Research
Track (four positions). You may apply to as many of the tracks as
interest you. Applications to each of the three tracks are
considered independently. Interviews begin early December 2006,
continue through late January 2007, and are by invitation only. The
application deadline is November 30, 2006. You may learn more about
our Program and Institution by pointing your Web browser to
www.nycornell.org/medicine/residency.html.

Use the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) either
through your Dean's Office or, if you are an international medical
school graduate, through the Educational Commission for Foreign
Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (http://www.ecfmg.org/). Also visit the
National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) page
(http://nrmp.aamc.org/nrmp/). Applicants must subscribe to ERAS and
the NRMP to be considered. There are no post-match positions.

Because of the great number of highly qualified persons applying to
our program, very few international medical graduates will be invited
to interview. On average there have been zero-to-three international
medical school graduates in the three years of the program. Most
transfer into the program after successful completion of internship
in an ACGME-accredited medicine program. Applicants should have
substantial research experiences, outstanding letters of
recommendation from their clinical and research supervisors in the
United States, and valid ECFMG certification. Though there is no
specific board score requirement, a higher score holds greater
weight. The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Center
sponsors J-1 (http://www.ecfmg.org/) and H-1B visas
(http://uscis.gov/graphics/index.htm). You are responsible for
retaining an immigration lawyer and for all associated administrative
costs, including the Premium Processing Service
http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/prem_process.htm).

The NRMP Match Numbers are as follows:

Categorical Internal Medical Program 1492140C0

Medical Research Program 1492140C1

Primary Care Internal Medicine Program 1492140M0

Please comply with the following guidelines when completing your application.

1. Completed ERAS application:
a. If you have been elected to AOA, include this in the application
under "Medical Educ.", field
"Did you receive the Alpha Omega Alpha award?";
b. If you have taken or are scheduled to take an elective at the
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/
Weill Cornell Medical Center include this information in your
personal statement. Include
the name of the Department/Division, to-from dates and supervisor's
name (e.g., "Heme/Onc, 7/1/99-7/31/99, J Leonard");
2. Dean's Letter;
3. Medical School Transcript;
4. USMLE 1 and USMLE 2 Transcripts;
5. ECFMG Certificate (Valid Indefinitely);
5. At least two Faculty Letters of Recommendation (more than two is OK!);
6. A Letter from the Department of Medicine Chairman;
7. Brief Personal Statement (optional).

Applicants will be considered for an interview on the basis of their
overall record. Please feel free to e-mail me
(jmacalu@med.cornell.edu) at any time.

Thank you for your interest in our program and your careful attention
to the above details.

Our residency program continues to be a primary focus of the Department of Medicine and whether your future plans include subspecialty training or general practice, our goal is to provide the training necessary for you to complete the program as a first rate internist.

All applications are accepted through ERAS, and if you have not done so already, you may request your ERAS kit though the ECFMG at (215) 222-5641. ECFMG processing is also available at their web site: www.ecfmg.org/erasinfo.htm.

There should be no more than 5 years between the time you graduate from medical school and the time you apply to residency.

Once again, thank you for your interest in our residency program.

Thank you for your interest in our Internal Medicine Residency program. Below please find our program application procedures and requirements. Please review our website at http://www.dhmc.org/dept/imr for details about the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center's Internal Medicine Residency Program.

The DHMC Medicine Residency Program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We do not accept any paper applications. The following documents are required:

1. The common application form (ERAS)

2. USMLE scores (Part I is required for the application process and Part II is required before the start of the intern year) (ERAS). Applicants interviewed have a minimum score of 80 and must have passed on their first attempt.

3. ECFMG report and certificate for international medical graduates (this includes U.S. applicants attending medical schools outside of the U.S as well as non-U.S. citizens applying from non-U.S. medical schools) (ERAS)

4. An official transcript from the applicant's medical school (ERAS)

5. Dean's letter (ERAS)

6. The Department of Medicine letter (ERAS)

7. Two letters of recommendation (ERAS)

8. The personal statement (ERAS)

9. In order to be considered for a position in our program, applicants from medical schools located outside the US and Canada MUST have graduated from medical school in the last 3 years, passed USMLE Step I & II on the first attempt, be fluent in spoken and written English, be eligible for ECFMG certification, and have a minimum of 2-3 months of clinical experience in the US, Canada, or major European medical center at the level of a sub-intern. Observerships without direct clinical responsibility do not meet this criteria. Applicants who are not US Citizens or Green Card holders will also need to be eligible for a J visa; our program does not sponsor applicants from medical schools outside the US for H1-b visas.

The deadline for receiving applications is December 15th of each calendar year.

A personal interview is a required part of the application process. An invitation to interview will be extended to candidates after review of the application materials. Second visits to our residency program are arranged on an individual basis through the Program Administrator after the official interview day has occurred.

We participate in the National Residency Matching Program, and do not accept any applicants outside of the match.

Sincerely,

Mindy Pickett

Thank you for your interest in the Oakwood Hospital Internal Medicine Residency. We will be accepting applications through the ERAS program starting in August. U.S. Graduates can register through their Dean's office and International Graduates can register through the ECFMG. A "Request for an ERAS Application Kit" is available on the ECFMG Home Page at www.ecfmg.org/erasinfo.htm. We are not accepting paper applications. Please submit your information through ERAS. We will be accepting applications until December 1 or until our interview schedule fills up.

Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center does not accept J1 visas nor do we sponsor H1B visas. You must have a score of 195, minimally, on U.S. Medical Licensing Exam Steps 1 & 2; have graduated from medical school in the last five years; be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have an employment authorization document; and have either medical school honors or one year of research or community service in the U.S. to be ranked by our Institution. Thank you for your interest in pursuing Mercy Catholic Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency training opportunities.

MCMC has no minimum score requirements for residency candidates. We look at all aspects of an individual’s medical education and clinical experience, and our interview selection process is competitive. We only accept applications through ERAS. Having completed requirements such as passage of step 3 (if interested in a H-1B visa) tend to work in one’s favor toward being considered for an interview. The program supports the pursuit of any visa type. However, the selected visa pathway must allow you to begin training by July 1, 2007. No off cycle starts are permitted. Our heavy involvement with local medical school students prevents us from offering observerships, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania does not permit IMG’s to perform clinical clerkships/externships. If you’ve graduated from medical school some time ago, it would be in your best interest to be able to demonstrate some recent clinical experience.

DUE TO THE ENORMOUS VOLUME OF EMAILS, THIS IS AN AUTO REPLY.

Thank you for your interest in our Internal Medicine training program at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY

We are pleased to report we filled all of our 2006 positions in the NRMP Match and we have no other positions at any level until the 2007 Match. See below for information regarding observerships and minimum criteria.

Our minimum requirements for the 2007 Match (subject to change) are:

A completed application (ERAS only) deadline Dec. 1, 2006.
==> An updated CV and personal statement
==> Medical School transcript
==> Dean's letter
==> Letters from two additional members of the faculty and the Chair of Medicine.
==> USMLE or ECFMG Scores via USMLE transcript An 82 or above on the first attempt is recommended on both Step 1 and Step 2 CK and CS Preference given to those whose files are complete Step 1, 2CK and 2CS) prior to the 12/1 deadline
==> ECFMG certificate eligible required prior to 2006 Match deadline

We strongly recommend that all applicants to our training program have clinical experience in the United States before joining us. If you have any such experience or plan to do a clinical rotation in the United States, please supply detailed information about the content of the rotation and be sure to include letters of recommendation from that institution. Due the enormous volume of requests, the number of learners we are obligated to serve and legal constraints, the Department of Internal Medicine at the SUNY Upstate Medical does not offer any clerkships, observer ships, extern ships, clinical attachments, volunteer positions or electives for students in non-LCME accredited institutions. There are no specific criteria for length of time since medical school graduation; however clinical experience within the past 2 years is an asset.

In addition, our department will sponsor for a J1 visa. Our current House Staff consists of approximately 75% International Medical Graduates from a wide variety of countries. We cannot comment on your potential without reviewing your entire file from ERAS. If you submitted an attachment, we regret we are unable to open it due to the risk of viruses. All ERAS files are reviewed. All candidates should participate in the NRMP Match, however a limited number of pre-match positions may be offered to outstanding candidates. We cannot comment on your potential without reviewing your entire file from ERAS. Please feel free to apply and let the House Staff Selection Committee decide on your suitability.

ERAS application packets are available through the ECFMG. Incomplete and paper applications will not be considered for an interview. Due to the cost of postage, brochures are not mailed to overseas addresses. If you provide us, (in writing or via e-mail) with a U.S. address, one will be mailed to you. In the meantime, please visit us at www.universityhospital.org/medicine_residency/.
Thank you very much for your interest in our program.

DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE
NORWALK HOSPITAL

MEMORANDUM

TO: International Applicants for Internal Medicine Residency
Training

FROM: Janet Johnson
Residency Registrar

RE: Information and Requirements for Applications for Training in
2007

We require that you have scores of 85 or better on both Step 1 and Step 2
of the USMLE. An ECFMG certificate is required to enter a U.S. residency.
Therefore, the CSA, which is required for ECFMG certification, is mandatory
unless you have a certificate which was issued before that requirement was
added. Though not absolutely required, we do check for U.S. experience, and
it is definitely to your advantage. The deadline for applications is
December 1, 2006. Regarding year of graduation, we do not have a ruling,
but want to know what you have been doing since graduation.

We do have international physicians in our housestaff. We do sponsor J-1
visas. In regard to H-1 visas, we do sponsor those on occasion, but that
would be determined with the Residency Program Director, at the time of the
interview. We prefer that all requirements for the H-1 visa be completed
before we sponsor such a visa, i.e. you should plan to take the Step 3 exam
by the end of 2006 or early in 2007. If you take the Step III exam in
early 2007, you should anticipate using the expedited process which takes
only two weeks.

We are participating in the ERAS program, and will not accept paper
applications. To obtain applications and information on that program,
write ECFMG-ERAS Program, Box 13467, Philadelphia, PA 19104-3467, U.S.A.,
or go to the ECFMG/ERAS web site at:
