1. What are your USMLE score requirements? There are no minimum USMLE score requirements for application to the program. Candidates must have passed the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 on first attempt. 2. Does your program require U.S. clinical experience? U.S. clinical experience is not required, however, applicants who graduated from medical school more than 2 years ago, must have patient-related clinical experience within the last 2 years from the date of application. 3. Do you accept applications from international medical graduates (IMGs); also sometimes referred to as foreign medical graduates (FMGs)? Yes. 4. Do you have any international medical graduates in your program? Not currently. We had an international medical graduate who completed the program last year. 5. Do you sponsor the H1B1 visa? No. We sponsor the J-1 visa only. Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of California , San Francisco . The application deadline for 2007-08 is November 15, 2006. We accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Below are several important steps that must be completed by international medical graduates who are interested in applying to our program: STEP 1: Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) You must hold a current, valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). This is mandatory for appointment at this institution as well as for medical licensure in the State of California . You will need to contact the ECFMG directly and arrange to take the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). After you pass the examination, including the English test, you will be issued an ECFMG certificate. If you are not a citizen of the United States and do not hold Permanent Resident status, you will be required to secure the ECFMG-J1 visa to enter this institution for medical training. Our program does not sponsor H1 visas for medical trainees. The following is the address of the ECFMG: Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates 3624 Market Street Philadelphia , PA 19104-2685 U.S.A. Telephone: 215-386-5900 Web Address: http://www.ecfmg.org STEP TWO: “Applicant Evaluation Status Letter” from the California Medical Board After you receive your ECFMG certificate, and prior to applying for training at UCSF, you must contact the California Medical Board (CMB). The CMB will require that you complete their application form and submit various documents and records along with a processing fee. Upon the successful review of your application credentials, education, and USMLE scores, the CMB will issue an "Applicant Evaluation Status Letter." This letter enables you to make application for training at UCSF. A copy of this letter should be submitted with your UCSF application. The following is the address of the California Medical Board: Medical Board of California 1426 Howe Avenue, Suite 54 Sacramento , CA 95825-3236 U.S.A. Telephone: 916-263-2344 http://www.medbd.ca.gov STEP THREE: National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) If you are applying for a first-year residency position filled through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), it will be necessary for you to register with that organization. The following is the address of the NRMP: National Resident Matching Program 2450 "N" Street, NW Suite 201 Washington , D.C. 20037-1141 U.S.A. Telephone: 202-828-0676 http://www.aamc.org/nrmp/ STEP FOUR: Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) To apply for an Internal Medicine residency position, you must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Students and graduates of Canadian schools should contact the Canadian Residency Matching Service (CaRMS). Contact CaRMS at 151 Slater Street, Suite 802 , Ottawa , Ontario K1P-5H3 Canada or call (613) 237-0075 for ERAS processing information and materials. Applications submitted through ERAS must include the following: 1. ERAS Application 2. USMLE Transcript 3. Medical School Dean’s Letter 4. Medical School Transcript 5. Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency Program of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Our program participates in ERAS and NRMP. Our program normally recruits ALL our residents through NRMP. U.S. experience and U.S. citizenship/permanent resident status are preferable but not required. Texas Tech only sponsors J-1 visa for all applicants. Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center does not provide H-1 visa for residents. Interviews are granted after the faculty members who are member(s) of the resident selection committee has/have reviewed the entire application packet. There is no minimum USMLE score requirement but scores above 83 are preferable. US experience is not required but preferable. Evidence of ECFMG certification (not necessarily the wall-mount certificated itself) is required at the time of interview. Under extraordinary circumstances you may provide such evidence by the NRMP rank order list submission deadline. In addition, the applicant must be eligible for training permit from Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. Please visit http://www.tmb.state.tx.us/ for more information on training permit. Please feel free to the IM Residency Staff if you need any further information. Jill Cuestas Program Coordinator Emory University School of Medicine J Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program 69 Jesse Hill Jr Dr SE #211 Atlanta, GA 30303 Phone: 404-616-7028 Fax: 404-525-2957 Application Information for International Medical Graduates ***We accept applications and documents via ERAS only. *** Thank you for your interest in Emory University's J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Programs. We do not have any unfilled PGY1, PGY2 or PGY3 positions for 2006. The deadline to apply to our program is November 1, 2006. We do not offer externships or observerships. If you are currently in medical school and are interested in a fourth year elective. Please contact Barbara Bingham in our Dean’s office at bbingha@emory.edu Emory's program is both rigorous and competitive. Each year we receive more than 3000 applications and interview 10-15% of candidates. We offer approximately 50 three-year positions (Categorical and Primary Care) and approximately 30 one-year positions (Preliminary and Transitional). The Preliminary one-year positions are primarily reserved for applicants matching in Emory’s Neurology and Radiation Oncology residencies. The Transitional one-year positions are primarily reserved for applicants matching in Emory residencies such as (but not limited too) Anesthesiology, Radiology, Ophthalmology and Dermatology. We accept applications through ERAS (http://www.aamc.org/audienceeras.htm) ONLY. Please do not send paper applications or additional paper documents. Interviews are granted on an invitation only basis. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) should visit ECFMG at http://www.ecfmg.org/eras/index.html. IMGs applying to our program should be aware of the following: While we do not require clinical experience in the US (such as an elective, externship or observership) we strongly recommend it as it does make you a more attractive applicant. We do prefer that you have graduated within five years of application. You must be fully ECFMG certified by the time we submit out rank list in February 2007. Thus, you need to have successfully completed your Step 2CS or CSA prior to January 31, 2006 and have a valid ECFMG certificate by February 2007. Emory University currently sponsors J-1 visas. In order for Emory to sponsor an H-1 visa, you must have already passed USMLE Step 1, 2 and 3 by February 15, 2006. H1 visas are a possibility but not guaranteed, as our experience this year has shown. In summary, criteria for applications are as follows: * Application through ERAS only, deadline November 1st, 2006, complete application by January 1, 2007. * USMLE Transcript (Step 1, Step 2ck and [Step 2cs or CSA]) * Minimum scores = PASSING (We do not have any particular USMLE score at which we do/do not grant an interview, but obviously those with the best scores have a better chance of getting invited. Thus it is advantageous to have competitive scores) * Two letters of recommendation minimum (one must be from a faculty member of your Department of Medicine) ERAS allows you to submit up to four. * Dean's letter or Dean equivalent letter Interviews are granted on an invitation only basis and take place in November 2005 and continue through January 2006. We hope this is helpful and thank you again for your interest. For more information, please visit our website at www.medicine.emory.edu Sincerely, Jill Cuestas Recruitment Coordinator

Thank you for your inquiry about our Internal Medicine Residency Program here at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. We do accept international graduates into our training program. Currently 13 of our 71 residents are international graduates. With three digit scores above 200, you would be in the range of those who would be invited to interview. Our Program Directors make the final decision about who will be selected to interview after applications are reviewed. We will begin accepting applications for the 2007-2008 academic year in September, 2006. Our deadline for application is December 31, 2006. We will be happy to receive and review your application during that time frame. Cheryl Moss Residency Program Administrator Department of Medicine University of Mississippi Medical Center 2500 N. State Street Jackson, MS 39216 601-984-5601
