A pediatrician sees a 4-month-old boy for the first time. He had been delivered at home by his maternal grandmother, who had been a midwife in Southeast Asia before the family immigrated to the United States. According to the mother, the baby had been born on time and hadweighed about 7 pounds at birth. Physical examination is remarkable for a continuous murmur heard best at the upper left sternal border. AthrilI, analogous to a kitten's purring, can be felt over the left side of the baby's chest.

how wud the oxygen tension chnage ( as compared to a normal infant ) in th efollowing?

1. aorta

2. Pul artery

3. left ventricle

All i know is Step of SaO2 in pulmoanry artery if the shunt is reversed.
The rest is i am not sure but i think
LV and Aorta:Sao2 Increased
VenaCava and Pulm artery:decreased
Correct me if i am wrong:::Clueless its just a guess

ok lets think about the path of blood.

aorta--is it recieving deoxygenated blood directly? if it is, then sat s shud decrease. otherwise any shunt is the systemis circulation will have to pass thru the lungs before it reache sthe aorta again.

now give it a try smiling face
