hi
I am disappointed because some of our freinds which are doctors told me that i will not find residency in California however i am tied here because my husband works for state of california and i cant live alone if apply outside California.Is it right that foriegners cant find reidency in CA ,please help.

I have heard its difficult for IMGs to get a residency in california relative to east coast.
But thats just relative. Lot of IMGs still make it.

NOt at all .Every year many IMGs needing visa or not needing visa become successful in finding a residency in Cali.THe founder of this prep4usmle site is a prime example of it.

not to be rude, but why cant u live alone if u find a residency outside of cali? its only for three or four years. and since ur husband works for the state, he gets weekends off and holidays off to go see you. most people would jump at a chance just to get a residency. u have to look at the long term.

I know somebody that matched last year in Cali with average scores and an observership in a hosp in Cali. So it is not impossible; it might be difficult but if you apply to a reasonable number of programs, you could get it. GL
