33 yr old male with residual schizophrenia is going to Hawaii on a vacation with his family. He takes his medication regularly. What advice should be given to this pt before he leaves for this trip?

  #2

I am not sure.....but I assume that this patient could develop psychotic symptoms....or relapse into one of the other forms of schizophrenia

A patient with residual schizophrenia wld have negative symptoms and evident thought disturbance and absolutely no insight so the best advice is for him to not go to hawaii..lol...unless with his family
so advice his family
1...medication compliance
2...watch out for suicidal ideation....
3...determining where a nearby health-care facility is if overt psychotic symptoms develop..

The best thing is to actually tell me what you know he should do..... grin
