Ok guys, here is the scoop.
been studying on and off for the past 4-5 months, increased studying for the past 2 months now. I have read Kaplan step 2ck books twice, and then read First aid
and took NBME form 1 and got a 350...pretty bad iknow..
I have since then been doing UW completed 2/3rd of it and have a cumaltive score of 56%, initially scoring low to mid 50's to now (last 10 exams) avg is 59.8%
I also read Crush step 2
I took NBME form 2 and recieved a score of 430.
I know have 2 weeks left and im wishing/hoping/trying to score in the 90's on step 2
is there any advice you guys can help me to achieve my goal? i know i have to finish UW, i read the answers for all the questions. should i reread my wrong answers? focus on FA or Crush?

hey you still have time !!!! I have my exam in 4 dayz !!!!!!! Here is my advice resist the urge to fool around and get those usmle world questions done. peace out brother

thanks for the advice,
so last night i couldnt sleep and was trying to figure out a game plan. i plan on doing this in the following order.
1.finish UW.
2.read small sections that im weak on according to from UW and NMBE in the kaplan books
3.reread my notes from UW and choose either FA or Crush and do a rapid review
4. review pictures, Xrays, and EKGS.
5. Kaplan practice exam.
6. USMLE CD
7. NBME form 3
8. PRAY,PRAY and PRAY!
any advice on what else i hsould do or in what order/

well i have to agree with ur plan..do try the UW questions. the q difficulty on the exam is closest to UW.
Keep studying....the capacity for hard work usualy increases exponentially the closer u r to the exam....and so suz ur knowledge..u have atleast a week to decide if u wanna rescheduele and u might as well give it a 100%

oh i forgot to mention, my exam date is the last possible date for my eligibility period. even if i could extend it, i wouldnt, i need the score for applying for the 2007 match. but i agree with your thoughts on exponential gain of knowledge, i think it because you start to connect concepts together.

well tommorow is the day. of my list i had mentioned earlier, the only thing i didnt get to do was NBME 3. but i figure that i wotn gain anything from it bc i wont have time to review my weak subject and i dont get the answers. if anything it might eitehr increase or decrease my confidence if i do good or bad.
well wish me all luck, i shall report my exam experience when i get back.

long story, so ill try to shorten it. i had first signed up for the 22nd of sept. at test center #1, then when i pushed it to the 30th it was then at test center #2. however, my dumbself went to the test number 1 when i was supposed to be at center #2. and the 30th was my last day of eligibility. so i had to pay 50dollars and get an extension, didnt get my orange card til the monday that justpassed, next opening is on the 21st where im scheduled. to take back at test number 1.
so in short i didtn take it yet. im so frustrated i was ready tot ake it, i feel like im losing information. on a the other hand about 2.5 wks ago i took nbme 3 and i got a 510. so im pretty happy with that, just have to keep reviewing,

hey buddy! well dn't give up.....you can still make it....and if i remember correctly, u took ur step1 in ur undergraduate yrs and have a stellar score on that one,[tht was a big inspiration for me]......so u can do it again!
i wud advice u to keep revciewing the management stuff and lab tests...these are very high yield....rest u already know

Sorry about your story but may be that's God will for you. Take it easy and keep focus.
By the way, could you please tell me if nbme 1 is more difficult than the others.
My exam is in 10 days and I can only do one of the forms.
What is your advice as you did all three forms.

i really felt that nbme form 1 was the hardest for me, then followed by form 2 and then form 3. i dontknow if this has to do with me studying each of my weakness after taking the previous forms.
right now according to form 3, obgyn, peds, and hematology/immunology is killing me, my int. med is strong.
questions is the key from what others have told me. esp usmleworld
do that and review your wrong questions,

I am in the same boat as you.
My exam is in one week. nbme 1 350 -nbme 2 430.
weakest point ob gy and immuno as I already forgot everything from step 1.
I don't think I will take any nbme 3. So any advice as we are so closed study with brothers.Let me know

truedeam59, at this point im just reviewing my weaker subject in FA, i feel liek i need to do questions so my friends gave me his copy of MKSAP for IM. im gonna just do those two andmaybe if i have time review crush, but thats highly unlikely.
my biggest worry rightn ow is not step 2ck but this years residency applications and match, ive applied to 52 programs and have gotten aroudn 9 rejections and 1 interview, and havent heard from anyone else,
it worries me because i recieved a score of 245/99 on step 1, i went to the carribeans but was one of the top students in my class, plus i did my clinicals in the US and still havent had such a good response. i applied to IM, EM and gen surg, in IL, WI, and IN.
hopefully maybe with my step 2 score things will get better.

I think they are may be waiting to see if you will pass step 2 ck. Are you doing with CS.
Don't worry tomuch.Finish first with step2 ck. I am also preparing myself for 2007 match. I am thinking of GS-FM or IM.
But one of my consultant told me tofinish first with the step 2 ck.

yeah i think you are right about them waiting for my step2ck score, i wish i had just went to the right place then they would have my score by now. but oh well cant dwell in the past. ohter than that, i already took and passed my step2cs

I need advice, i have 1 month to go read kaplan 3-4 times,done with u-world once random, timed tests always, got 58%, will read uw 2nd time now, dont feel confident at all.Is it worth reading it once more? 1 more q, which book is good for last min review? as for step1 i had FA which really helped.

Just do know other staff like kaplan. It is useless to repeat question bc you already know them. You will for sure have around 70 or more. I finished uw with 56. I went back to my books again. Did a lot of reading. Doing kaplan now and scoring between 60 and 79. nbme 2 430 few days ago.Doing now my weakest point and reviewing staff difficult to memorize and reading notes from uw.

My problem is that i dint read any review book until now, u think its worth picking 1 now, with only a month to go, cause for me, i have to read any book atleast 3 times, or its no use, FA for step2 looks like a very big book , for the last month, pls advice

Usmle secrets or crush are the same. Choose one of them if FA is too big and start using your notes from your kaplan. I think many people recommand crush but I prefer usmle secrets as it is my style of learning.
You must start reading one of them. You will find that you already read a lot of topics using kaplan. Hope this help.
You will be able to read one of them at least two times. One month is a lot. Don't get panic and stay focus.You can make it

truedeam59 - sounds like you got a good plan as well. currently, i read my weakest subjects in FA, and now finishing up crush, review my UW notes and then relax. i knwo people dont study the day before, but i just want to review my notes for a peace of mind. key thing for me during step 1 exam day was to keep your energy and endurance up. i heard horror stories of people almost taking a nap towards the end of it. these exams are are such a multilevel task.
