Patient luckily went to a smart doc for his chemotherapy. was given prophylaxis for Tumor lysis syndrome. developed severe toxic s/e . His smart doc had unluckily treated him with which one, without thinking..? ( name 2)

1. pancreatitis ----> azathioprine 2. osteoporosis ----> corticosteroids 3.predisposes to lymphoma: nephrotoxicity ------> mycophenolate 4.GI distress, visual disturbances ----->hydrocholoroquine 5. hemolysis in G6 PD deficiencies ----->? Can name only one--allopurinol

5. hemolysis in G-6 -P-D deficiency hydrocxychloroquine too .. allopurinol is given for prophylaxis of tumor lysis syndrome. U're close..which chemotherapeutic drug toxicities do u especially have to be careful about when using it?

3, i wrote with cyclosprine in mind. but i guess most immunosupressive agents wud have taht side effect. well done..

Oh now I remember. 6 mercaptopurine is the chemotherapeutic drug that will result in toxicity if allopurinol is given coz 6-MP is metabolized by xanthine oxidase , the same enzyme that allopurinol inhibhits. regarding lymphoma I'm not sure whether all immunosupressants cause it but Im pretty much sure that cellsept ( mycophenolate) causes it. Mycophenolate is sometimes used to traet lupus. thanks.
