In the initial presentation of a patients w/ type II diabetes, what is the functional status of the following enzymes: pyruvate dehydrogenase, fatty acid synthase and the citrate shuttle.

this post is old school... anyway

i think pyruvate dehydrogenase should be active since body is starving for glucose;

f.a. synthase should decrease because fats will be mobilized for energy and therefore citrate shuttle is shunted towards the krebs for producing atp
