a 60yr old woman had problems related to movements for 5 yrs,on phys exm.---cog wheel rigidity,festinating gait.Tt with levodopa cond. improved, 2 yrs later marked cognitive decline ....died of aspiration pneumonia. on autopsy mild cerebral atrophy, loss of subst.nigra pigment. Miroscopically loss of pigmented neuron ,the rmaining neurons show spheroidal,intraneuronal,cytoplasmic,eosinophylic inclusions.Immunohistochemical staining of which of following protiens is most likely to b positive


1-alpha-Synuclein
2-Amyloid precursor prtoein
3-Apolipoprotein-e
4-Huntingtin
5- Presenilin
6-Tau protein

you will find Lewy bodies on microscopy & these are the inclusion bodies. They are positive for alpha- synuclein. So Answer is 1.

The primary constituent of LBs is alpha-synuclein, a presynaptic protein, the function of which is unknown. Neurofilament proteins and ubiquitin are other important constituents of LBs.

aka diffuse lewy body disease. you'll find inclusions in the cortex....Park spares the cortex. later gators.
