hi, you can take the steps in any order. By the way there is no more CSA, you have to take step 2 cs instead. You can read about this in the ECFMG website.

I think you don’t need step 1 knowledge to take CS, although probably it’s a good idea to take step 1 before step 2 CK, there are a lot of topics that overlap between those exams. I’m still preparing to take CS(hope to do that soon), but from my experience(I did the opposite thing that I’m advising) Take Step 1 before step 2 CK. And, if you have some clinical experience and you are good with the language take CS whenever you feel ready for it.

btw y do u wanna take step 2 before step 1.. even if ure a fresh grad, i drecommend step 1 and then step 2 CK...step 2 CS can be taken earlier esp if uve just rotated in ur clinical rotations..

thanks a lot for all the replies..let me tell you the whole story honestly..i gave step1..i failed..i did study well.but did not do enough ques..n then didn sleep before exam..got too nervous..didn know where i was goin..i found that the ques were quite clinical..i know step1 theory quite well..but i am a bad exam taker..need to work on that..i even wasnt comfortable sitting there for 7 hours..i know that sounds stupid..but i accept all my mistakes. now i am plannin step 2 1st because i think the clinical knowledge will help me in step1..after step 2 step1 will become easier..i am sure my step1 knowledge will be beneficial in step2..dont wanna be in a hurry this time..want to study well..u guys are experienced..pl guide me.. i did lose once..went thru hell but now i wanna fight back..

just dust yourself up and go back to your STEP 1 books. no short cuts. you need step 1 to excel in step 2 especially with you not being a good exam taker. there have been many who did step 2 before 1 but it is best to go the ' 1,2, 3' way. all the best.
