A particular association determines membership on the basis of members'
IQ scores. Only those persons who have documented IQ scores at least 2
standard deviations above the mean on the Wechsler Adult Intelligence
Scale (WAIS) are eligible for admission. Of a group of 200 people randomly
selected from the population at large, how many would be eligible for
membership to this society?
A. 1
B. 2
C. 3
D. 4
E. 5

E?

2 SD's basically refers to 95% of the sample. If the sample size is 200, then 95% refers to 190 people.

This now means that out of 200 people, 190 people fall between 2 Standard deviations. This leaves 10 people (200 - 190), so we assume an equal distribution of 5 people that fall above this 2 Standard deviations, and 5 people that fall below 2 Standard devations.

Here we want those that are 2 SD's above. So 5 people.

Correct me if i'm wrong please (or if my reasoning is wrong). Thanks! =)
